ESSENDON coach Kevin Sheedy is resigned to losing Ted Richards, but he has told clubs to keep their hands off Andrew Welsh.

Welsh was linked to Richmond in a deal involving Greg Tivendale.

It is understood the Western Bulldogs have made Richards their priority before Sydney's Jason Saddington.

The Dogs officially put Jade Rawlings on the table along with Patrick Bowden and Daniel Bandy.

Hands off Woosha!!!

Please no Rawlings. No no no no no no no no

jad rawlings is a good player just lost confidence when he was made a key forward, people forget how good he was. yeah he's had knee problems but some players who go back to backline seem to look after there knees better as they more or less run forward towards the ball. forwards do more twisting and turning.

Also sheedy likes players to switch around and it will allow more time for lucas in the forward line?

but we desperately need a quick midfielder and I dont know who is out there that will negate the impact when james hird finishes? I didnt say replace i said negate.

Essendon last year were after ryley dunn and my mate said he is a good player having come from bushranger territory himself. just said he had a few injuries. can you name any freo players that have not been that good when they have been traded. think of spider burton, winston abrahham, james clement, adam mcphee, leigh brown, brodie holland.

Bandy hasn't been linked to Essendon.
They offered him to Sydney for Saddington.

Where'd you get Essendon from in that. It just says that these are the players the Dogs are shopping around with.

I didn't get Essendon in that. Just relaying what I heard about Bandy and Saddington (SEN I think). Not even sure why I put Essendon in my post.

dyson, lovett and stanton will be good players but there still too young. And lovett will struggle to be consistent midfield power for us he's more suited to half forward same with dyson. Are they likely to accumulate possesions like a buckley, riccuito or cousins.

and we need more midfielders these days to rotate through the centre thats why we struggled this year, we went ok for 3 quarters every match but then fell off, why? because we did not have the midfield strength.

Are you talking about 2004 or 2005. If you had watched the last half of 2005 you would have seen a few late comebacks from our lot mainly because of the likes of stanton, dyson, lovett-murray, lovett etc. We dont need more quick midfielders, remember we still have Rama and Mcphee that can be used in those roles. What we lack is a KP backman, someone like Wellman, capable of holding down a second forward.

and to think welly could have played this year, and next year. given support to the backline, boy do we miss wellman

I would have Rawlings as a backilne player if his knees are ok. From what has been rumoured they are not.
If it is to replace Richards then we just need a third tall back and Rawlings would fill that role if fit.
As for Bandy , anyone got half a mars bar.

of course im talking about 2005, what for 6 games we had a good go at it. And please tell me where these teams that we went so well against finished and then tell me how we went against sydney? what was the score at 3/4 time and then at full time. And please tell me what happened against melbourne in the last game? and then tell me who will step up and be the next james hird because he wont be there next year?

yes we need another key backman but dont put mcphee in the middle play him like we played wellman, a floater across the backline. McPhee, Fletcher, Bradley, Welsh, Soloman and Ramanaskaus thats seems like a good enough backline to me. Rawling would be ok off the bench or to allow Mcphee onto the wing.

oh there quick and have some good qualities about them but are they big enough to break a pack bouncing the ball then kicking the goal, not yet not like a judd, daniel kerr, ricciuto, cousins or del santo. C'mon even sheedy has recognised this as a flaw in our team, im not so sure we need another ruckmen, hille and laycock with bradley part time should do just fine, injury prevailing.
