Caracella gone

AFL premiers Geelong have recruited Blake Caracella from Collingwood to join their coaching staff in place of Gold Coast-bound Ken Hinkley.
Caracella, a premiership player with both Essendon and Brisbane Lions who also played with Collingwood, has spent the past three seasons as a Magpies assistant coach.

The Cats said it helped that he had connections with Geelong's coaching group.

Cats coach Mark Thompson was an assistant coach at Essendon while Caracella played there and he and Geelong assistant Nigel Lappin were premiership teammates with the Lions.

"We're thrilled to add Blake to our coaching staff," Geelong football manager Neil Balme said.

"Blake has shown himself to be an innovative and progressive thinker and we feel he will work well with our group of players and coaches."

is it just me or is everyone taking our coaches?

How many bloody coaches do you need anyway.

My makeup this year would be;

Mick Malthouse; Head Coach:)

Then 3 Assistants;

Nathan Buckley; Midfield Coach
Mark Neeld; Defensive Coach
Paul Hudson; Forward Coach.

And we advertised in the HSUN today for a sports psychologist, so all is on track.:thumbsu:

Re: Caracella gone

I'm sure it would have been reasonably mutual, no harm in him moving along for a different kind of experience. I imagine he'd like to coach at the top one day, so spending times at a few clubs would be the logical progression.

Far from vital anyway, we'll have no problem bringing in some new talent.

Re: Caracella gone

what a joke whats going on at this club caracella, scott, and LLoyd all going to other clubs whats MM and EM up to.. maybe will get frasers or tooveys mums as coaches to add a little hardness like there siblings

Re: Caracella gone

Oh no, Not Blake, how will we be able to keep an eye on the opposition now.

He was "only" opposition coach, according to the CFC website, not a real loss.

Good luck to him though, he left because he got offered a better job, no problems with that.

Shit yeah!
I'm applying.
I have some great ideas to improve our chaps goal kicking accuracy.
It revolves around a few car batteries and a big red button connected to a hanging anatomical feature.:D

BBBBZZZZZZZZTTTTTT!:eek:

i think it says a lot about mm and em personally, over the yrs they have been at the club they have produced atleast 3 head coaches + others are leaving for various roles in other departments at rival football clubs.
taking that on board we should be confident that
1. bucks will get the experience he needs to give it 100% and
2. they have the eye needed to fill the vacant positions with quality people.

pies 2010.

congratulations to Blake. That career ending collision with Notting was absolutely sickening to see. Glad the Pies looked after him afterwards.

I hear he is wonderful with the younger players. Good luck in Catland - but not against us.

I guess with the sucession plan in place the younger coaches with ambitions will need to go elsewhere as there is no way they can get the top job at Lexus.
