I didnt hate it overall but I wished they werent so afriad to make the story more emotional so I could get more invested in these characters.

A Selina cameo would be brilliant. Yes please.

Back to this film, I 100% agree regarding the emotional weight it lacked. Biggest missed opportunity for me was in relation to this.

I was certain that at least one of the characters would die. Most likely Hank. It would have made the stakes seem more real or dangerous than what it was in the movie.

Also I must have misunderstood the marketing and trailers, as I thought a key plot point would be regarding time. And Kang trying to lure Ant Man into a deal regarding having more time with his daughter. ie, getting back those 5 years during the snap.

It didn’t even seem to be touched on and I thought that would’ve really added some emotional weight, which would resonate with any parent watching this film.

Another review I saw said if they left Scott and Hope stuck in Quantum realm then Cassie learns why Scott was hesitant to get involved as being the hero means sacrifice. Even this involves more emotional weight but I agree someone should die. How am I suppose to beleive this Kang could stop all the others if he couldnt beat the ant family.

yes I thought that’s what would happen when he remained to fight Kang. I liked the line about I just have to make sure you don’t win. And on reflection it did seem Kang was taken out too easily. There was a badass line earlier when he asks “are the one with the hammer?” when talking about the Avengers he has killed before. When he was ****ing shit up fully suited he looked unstoppable.

did they perhaps use that dialogue in the flashback with Michelle Pfeifer? I don’t recall it otherwise. Big missed opportunity. He’d missed 5 years with his daughter. This should have been explored more.

Yeah did look awesome which is why I wanted to know how he got his tech etc. All we got was Janet saying it was tech from the future.

The Council Of Kangs post credit scene is likely the reason why. They’ll probably focus more on the likes of Immortus and Centurion and how they reached their power levels.

Still feel though that there was just something not quite right with the way this variant of Kang went out. Highlight of the film for me was when he finally floated down during the end battle and started losing his shit. That’s what I came to see. Would’ve been great to have more of that but alas this is only the start really of the multiverse saga.

Thats if he is even dead. I assume he is but as he said "time isnt what you think it is". So we can always see him again. I know its early and we got so little of them but I really liked his potrayal of the Conquerer, the others not so much, I hope we havent seen the best of Kang already.

Exactly
when he went nuts and used his inbuilt disintegration rays, no one can stop him. But of course like in all final battles, the powerfull villain with all the weaponry in the world refuses to use them and instead even up the odds

Was not great, marvel films in general are going backwards.

How could you not have Michael Pena' character in it though.
No shortage of content but the quality has just nosedived completely.

The article this tweet links to is an interesting read. I have certainly noticed the quality of the CGI in a few MCU projects has been poor in recent years. She-Hulk comes to mind as a recent example. I have read a few comments about how crap the CGI in this Antman movie is too.

Just felt like a bland movie 2.5 hours acted in front of a green screen for me. At times Kangs CGI looked terribly poor for a big budget 2023 movie.

biggest gripe

Kang mentions multiple times that he's killed multiple avengers across multiple multiverses... Only to be taken down by this "Ant man and The wasp".. Really missed a massive opportunity to up the stakes for the future movies by killing off some characters

Better than I thought it would be.

The ‘I can give you time’ thing was definitely in the Janet flashback.

It was definitely a bit too light though. Perfect opportunity for a few characters to meet their end or at least face some consequences (stuck in quantum realm etc).

And yes they plagiarised Star Wars heavily but they own it so no risk of legal action at least.

Might have been better if the council of Kangs had made out he was the weak one, or if he’d escaped the quantum realm.

I get the hero basically has to have a victory (at least in these minor entries) but if Lang had lived and taken a few characters out the anticipation for what’s next would be a lot higher.

It was reasonably entertaining for a couple of hours. Jonathan Majors was good as Kang. But I didn't care about any of the characters and the plot made little sense.

It was ridiculous that Janet wouldn't tell anyone about the complex world of the Quantum Realm that contains a universe threatening evil being.

If MODOK can create a portal to suck them into the QR why couldn't he create a portal to get Kang out?

The Bill Murray character was pointless. But then again the whole movie was pointless as nothing has really changed by the end of it - apart from introducing Kang. There would have been some emotional impact if Kang had actually killed one of the main characters - maybe Janet as she probably doesn't have a role in future movies.

5/10

Yeah being 20+ movies and a few long series in, the fact so many of the films are devoid of consequences becomes noticeable.

If you’re introducing your next villain and he’s going to lose then it at least needs to come at a cost.

I described it to a mate as 'standard Disney Marvel crap where there's a bunch of CGI action, attempted humour, and you don't care about any of the characters'.

They still turn out some good films and GOTG is getting good reviews now, but there are too many that just aim at being light, 3 star films where everyone is happy at the end.

The Avengers films tend to have actual consequences, and to be fair No Way Home definitely had some, but they need to start killing people off etc if they want to keep interest between the flag pole films.

It was pretty clear that before Infinity War they were trying to keep everyone alive for a massive team up. I think they now want to top that in the upcoming Avengers films, so no one can die again.

Watched this today on D+, and wasn't expecting much. But for such a fantastical out there universe they made no effort to explain how it all came about. Just continuous lazy and convenient writing that took me out of the movie.

Loki did far better with less time with Kang than the movie did. Post credit scene was my favourite part of the film.

MODOK.....yeesh... disappointing.... especially the last 5 minutes.

Could have been a good movie in there, but geez what a waste.
