I can vouch for this. Misogyny and misandry are everywhere. The bloody shit you hear sometimes.Underestimate the number of disgruntled divorcees and incels at your own peril. There are clearly a lot of men who hate women.

Yep totally scratching my head, Dutton has the party spooked IMO, any significant reform progress etc is being kicked down the road in Fear of media blowback and a scare campaign. Paul Keating should be coming out and smashing these guys, he doesn't give a shit about what the media think and never did when PM, he's the guy that they should be using as an adviser but because he has upset them regarding AUKUS ( which he isn't wrong about btw) he's irrelevant to them. The Libs are using Howard when it suits the agenda I find it bizarre Albo isn't doing the same.Whoever is driving labor strategy is simply a moron and should be sacked.

Young men are drifting to Dutton. Will their mothers vote with them?
When young women supported the teals at the last federal election, some of their former Liberal-voting fathers swung behind them. Might mothers follow their sons’ lead this time?www.smh.com.au
Palme McGuinness setting the cat among the pigeons but she may have a point.
No, I think the article is making a case that fathers swung behind the teals because they were presented with candidates that might represent their daughters on issues that were concerns for their daughters.Umm...
Fathers swung behind the teals because they were presented with candidates that probably reminded them of their own daughters.
I doubt mother's are looking at Dutton the same way.
And let’s never forget, for all his admirable head-kicking qualities he was the one who rolled over and greenlighted Turdoch’s purchase of the Herald and Weekly Times, which many would argue was the catalyst for Pruneface’s malign now-dominance of the Australian media. We love Paul, but the actually was a one term PM
But there’s no denying it snowballed in ‘22.The drift away from libs in teal seats started a few elections ago
If my son were a politician who acted like Dutton, I'd disown him.Umm...

Let me be quite clear, I loathe Dutton and I hope the electorate gives him a giant boot in the arse.
But his whole thrust isn’t about his (LOL) personal appeal.
It’s about him promising to do the things that some demographics might respond to.
IF young men are feeling disenfranchised (and I’m not going to go into the arguments about why they are), and if their mothers are sympathetic to their lament, those mothers might perceive Dutton is the man to do something about it.
OK thanks for your input. No I understood what the article was trying to say.
McGuiness is just an idiot.
Not making any tangible differences on day-to-day life, however.Falling inflation
Low unemployment
Surpluses
Downward pressure on interest rates
And rising wages

Is Dutton PM now? I missed when he was elected in 2022.Which of Duttons proposal would? Stopping WTC, only having one flag for speeches, I must have missed something

Totally agree on competency, look at the two opposing frontbenches and the experience and professionalism of one over the other is stark.2024 will be choice between policies. If Dutton fails to give more detail, assume it’s more of the Morrison Turnbull Abbott govt.
Many think there’s not much different, so you choose the more competent. Thay choice is clear, but it won’t change your life much.
I’m sure you understand pd election choices

This first para should be the biggest discussion about safety. he truth being that it's not strangers around corners, but partners and ex-partners who should put the most fear into women. Here in Victoria the news is awash with stories about violence against women in the wake of the Samantha Murphy anniversary. I get that Dutton courting the young male vote based on a gut feeling of a few being hard done by may seem tempting for him, but there are literally women scared to go for a run in the morning because there is a certain cohort of men feeling emboldened to treat women with disrespect.
Politically, Albanese needs to hold his line on promoting policies that lift women up (cheaper childcare, super on parental leave, $2.3b on safety programs) while also putting more effort into building community connections to reduce loneliness. I'm personally nor opposed to some kind of 'national service' type programme where teens and young adults need to complete 30 hours of community service..doesn't even need to be onerous, could just be playing for your local bowls club, just get people out and about.
Albanese has plenty of angles to attack Dutton and I'd expect that to ramp up in two weeks time. Take immigration, how can you be seen as tough on borders when you are willing to let organised criminals literally buy their way in?
