You can literally go back and forth all day regarding the waste of tax payer money on stupid shit from both sides ALP/LNP.. what a waste of time.
It is literally a reflection of the wider discussion going on right now, initiated in no small part by Dutton’s decision to try to paint Labor as profligate.

Yes, “both sides” do it but at least Labor tends not to make moralistic boasts about cutting back “government waste” while they’re at it.

They don't demonise "government spending" like the right wing do. And there are two sides to a balance sheet, hence the name.
thats all bullshit though

they consistently vote for large government and large spend

its just where they want it spent

look no further than the libertarians in parliament around the country

marched against lockdowns while voting for increasing police powers and funding

we really need to move past what they say and focus on what they do

we all know what they say is largely bullshit anyway

Labor said nobody left behind and then proceeded to leave over a third of the country behind

When in opposition they consistently voted with the LNP on legislation, something like 80% of the time in fact, but if you only listened to what they said you'd assume they would have voted against it all

It's like Plibersek saying no new coal mines under labor because they've extended and expanded existing mines, technically true if you don't count new mines at existing sites, but we're still going to burn on the back of it and its still increasing emissions and letting more coal be dug up while claiming to care about climate change

Labor hold a position that sounds different to the LNP more than it is actually different to the LNP

it gives their supporters something to point to and attack the other party on, something to get people to vote on, the idea that they are truly different from each other

LNP proudly tell you they're going to **** you while doing it

Labor either shake their head and say they're sorry they had to **** you, or lie about doing it/blame the LNP for it

Mark Butler has rejected the proposed health insurance premiums proposed by the health industry (again).

In a win for common sense, since Medibank are making about a 9% profit from their revenue. They have 27% of the market. Bupa have 24%, but their financial statements are mixed with other Asia Pacific finances. HCF only made 5% in 2023-2024, but it's a not-for profit, so that's pretty decent.

The Health insurers keep saying they can't afford to "absorb increasing costs" while posting consistently high profits.

They even made a profit during COVD, FFS. At least home insurers have the decency to make a loss when a once-in-a-lifetime firestorm hits. When a pandemic hits the health insurers, they still somehow manage to make profits.

This is something the LNP would never do. (maybe they did, but I certainly don't remember it). Any LNP supporters want to prove me wrong?
