sorry, i just broke everyone's concentration, you may carry on if you'd like

Saw Sia at the Enmore last Saturday night - she is brilliant. Probably better known for her work with Zero 7, originally from Adelaide. Her vocal control is incredible. I love "The Girl You Lost To Cocaine".

Female lead bands for me I like (some I like a lot) these include:

Paramore (Have liked them for ages)

Arch Enemy (Still cannot believe it is a chick and I have seen them live twice)

Lacuna Coil

Fly Leaf

These are just a few random ones that have not been mentioned much.

Yeh, Sia is cool. Like her tunes.

Other bands/artists I like:

Amesoeurs
Portishead
Regina Spektor
Bat For Lashes
Bjork
PJ Harvey
Norah Jones

On Norah Jones - I think she's beautiful and want to marry her.:)

Probably don't belong in the 'big fan' column but i've quite enjoyed the recent respective albums from Bertie Blackman and La Roux.

Metric anyone?
I'm with you on this one - Emily Haines - her legs just go on forever.

They were the only reason I went to Parklife this year - and she was in great form!!

Toni Halliday from Curve is another favourite and Aimee Nash from The Black Ryder does some terrific work.

Liz Phair, Kim & Kelley Deal, Tanya Donnelly, Kirsten Hirst and Tori Amos have all gotten spins at one time or another on my CD player.

And the Go-Gos were pretty good back in the day.

Good to see someone else likes Toni, a greatly under appreciated singer/songwriter. She and Dean Garcia produced some of the best music of the 90's & early 00's under the guise of Curve. She has a new solo project called Chatelaine and has released a few new songs on her myspace page.

It different to Curve, but still enjoyable.

Agreed, I could never work out why they didn't get bigger when their music was, IMO, far superior to stuff that came out around the same time.

The fact that Garbage did break but Curve didn't perhaps suggests the power of Butch Vig.

As bands they seemed to run down similar paths sound wise.

Always good to find a fellow lover of Curve. :thumbsu:

The five years between the 'CUCKOO' and 'COME CLEAN' albums where their only release was the 'PINK GIRL WITH THE BLUES' EP may have had something to do it.
Also the fact that they were unwilling to compromise on their sound meant that b-grade fare like Garbage could capitalise by making their music more accessable to the mainstream audience, leaving Curve on the outer. It's a shame, because 'COME CLEAN' was a brilliant album, it was my favourite album of the nineties, and the final track 'RECOVERY' is one of the best songs I've ever heard. It's a shame no one else has.

I f**king love that song!!

It would be up in my Curve top 3 next to 'Coast Is Clear' & 'Arms Out'

I listened to Chatelaine as well, very solid.

She is a seriously unappreciated talent.

I'm sure others would love it as well if they were able to listen to it.

For those of you who do take the time to listen to it, it's not a music video, it was never released as a single, someone posted the song on youtube and used the front cover as the visual.

'COAST IS CLEAR' would be in my top 3 as well, along with 'FAIT ACCOMPLI'.

Before Curve, Toni released a solo album titled 'HEARTS AND HANDSHAKES', have you heard it? It is very different to Curve and Chatelaine, it's more of a pop/dance album.

At the risk of turning this into a Curve love-in I may as well post my all-time fave Curve track.

It also would be remiss of me to leave out another top band from the 90s - Lush.

Fronted by Miki Berenyi & Emma Anderson (in their most well known guise - Meriel Barnham also played with them early on)

Barnham went on to play with The Pale Saints (also not too shabby).
