We can beat them...FFS they are not anything other than a really good team, good teams sometimes get beaten...by other goos teams.......we have size and pace, and with some good luck we can get home.

We would beat Sydney with honest umpires, and if we hadnt lost 2 yesterday we would have beaten Carlton, we already beat the Dogs and Saints, all very good teams, we are a good team...

Yeh we can ! I know we can ! we can beat them.....!!!!!!!

This will be our biggest test for the year I reckon. That effort the Dons put in yesterday against the Blooze with 2 runners down after 1 quarter was ballsy :thumbsu:

Bombers will give it their best shot, have an 8 day break to freshen themselves up from the extra effort they put in yesterday. I think the Pies will win but only by a couple of goals and it will go down to the last 5 minutes.

Is sure to be an epic, 90,000+ crowd no doubt.

I go into Anzac Day thinking we can win and I'll be disappointed if we don't.

I think the rucks, Watson, Hocking, Lonergan, Howlett can get the ball going our way.

We'll need ripper games from our forwards to stop them getting it out easily.

The perfect stage for our second string players to announce themselves to the AFL.

I'm less confident about the Pies game after seeing today's draw.. Lots of sloppy mistakes unter pressure, but we can't fault the commintment.
Sloppy mistakes? Gee, the way we played that last half you'd think we only had two blokes on the bench for basically the entire game. FFS.

Stuff "honourable loss" and "doing ourselves proud". Let's just aim to beat the bastards. Give Hurley some support up forward, get the ball to him and he'll tear that backline to shreds. Tarrant's a joke and Maxwell's only useful as a third man up. Make Maxwell and O'Brien accountable. Hurley will destroy Tarrant if given a fair shot.

I think we definately can win, we are not the better side obviously but on this day anything can happen and IMO despite our injuries to key players we can go in this week with a much better team. Personally the carlton game showed that we are one tall forward short. Hurley was being manhandled as usual ryder has no impact and we really struggled - Enter - David Hille.

Ins: Hille, Riemers, Slattery, Davey (if hardingham is injured)
Outs: Prismall, Winderlich, Dempsey, hardingham (if inj)

Im hearing these rumours that Mcveigh broke his hand - i think its not true personally, all you need to do is watch the last minute of the game. There is no way he could have done what he did with a broken hand without being in immense pain. I know the guy is tough but he didnt look like he experienced any pain at all.

If we can get up in this game it will set us up for the rest of the season.

I think we are absolutely a chance to make it a close game. Winning will require a really good effort, but maybe Collingwood will switch off for a bit like they have in most of their games this season. Their third quarters haven't exactly been inspiring:

For: 5/3, 6/4, 3/1, 2/3
Against: 6/0, 2/3, 3/1, 6/3

The MCG is a factor though. One of the reasons that I was so happy with the performance against Carlton was because it was at the G, where we have sometimes struggled. Given Collingwood plays there so much and we don't it could be an issue.

If we are up at half time I will give us a real shot at it.

Can't see it being vastly different to the NAB game.
Whether or not they were 'foot to the floor' as a lot of their more floggish supporters claimed, they've followed the same pattern - blitz first; lax in the 3rd, come home in last 10 minutes - in most matches.

IMHO they'll be ahead by 2 or 3 at quarter time, noses ahead at the half, goal behind by 3/4 time & kick away to win by 3 or 4 goals.

Essendon $3.85
Collingwood $1.25

I would of thought we would of been a little bit rougher than those odds! I would have thought $1.20/$5+ especially since the injuries over the weekend...

Like lamaros said, it could get interesting if the Pies play in patches as we can be quite damaging in short bursts and ride on confidence.

It's good that we got a hit out at the G on Saturday-- gave us a chance to test our structures there and gives the coaches a chance to tinker with things that didn't work (the forwardline crumbled a bit).

Winderlich's forward pressure can be covered by Davey, but it's Dempsey that will be the biggest loss imo. He usually just finds a way to get out of trouble, and we'll be facing a lot of it with the Pies forward line.

Positives:
-Hille will be back, and we are undoubtedly a better team with him in. Makes his teammates that much more confident, too
-8 day break to rest some tired players
-Essendon home game, crowd should be immense
-Could we take some things from the NAB gf? The addition of Davey and Hille, and Hooker actually being in form, should help
-Not that much pressure on us to win

Negatives:
-Pies just hitting their strides
-Their tall forwards are in good form, not to mention the likes of Blair who tore us up last year
-Their amazing ability to sprint to each contest
-Their rebounding defenders- can we make them accountable? Monfries needs to improve dramatically.

In all likelihood, 3 - 4 goal win to the Pies.

Can't be reduced at the MRP according to Jon Ralph on twitter. Good news, finally.

[Edit] Could have sworn it was Leigh Brown?

Dawes is suspended by the MRP.

Might be a chance to play Fletcher on cloke - As Cloke has been playing deeper this year.

Can free up Hooker a bit.
Yep we really need to tie Fletcher down to the goal square and release Hooker. Imagine what'd happen if Fletcher had a bit of freedom to run & receive...:confused::confused::confused:

I am honestly questioning why I bothered to click and view this post. Sometimes I need to do things occasionally to remind myself of how bad it is and why I don't do it.

Chris Dawes in danger for Anzac Day

MAGPIE forward Chris Dawes is set to miss the Anzac Day clash after being given a one-match ban by the match review panel.

Dawes has been cited for striking, the AFL has reported on Twitter.

Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich can accept a reprimand for striking, while Nick Smith can take a $900 fine for making negligent contact with an umpire.

Dawes was reported on Friday night for striking Tiger Reece Conca.
