Montefilia ran down HH in the Flight Stakes. She has shown she has the turn of foot. She has never shown she can stay and has paddled the last 200m every single time she has stepped up to 2400m. Grasping at straws at this point to suggest she can stay and nothing points towards a strongly run 2400m being a positive for her

- the flight stakes was a brutal tempo
- she was a month between runs in the Vic Oaks
- she was good through the line in the ATC Derby
- she was on the quick back up yesterday

Absolute bullshit
She failed because she wasnā€™t the fastest sprinter in the field
She had zero hope where she was in run
She needed a fast pace today and didnā€™t get it

Yeah and if she had a fast race pace she wouldn't have stayed like her last two times at the trip #squib

Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel

She was also on the quick back up when she smashed them in the Spring Champion - keep clutching

Refreshing to see someone do the form properly rather than trolololo horse x beat y. Also inferior ground last week, I think she's inconclusive but on the marginal does not stay side of the argument.

My opinion on Montefilia is this
The previous two times she ran at the trip she didn't have the right platform to run it.
In the Vic Oaks rising from 2000 to 2500 with a month between runs is a shocking platform to run the trip, yet she placed still.
In the ATC Derby she was likely in the worst ground, only third up in the prep rising from 1400-2000-2400 and she still took ground away from Khoekhoe late and was good through the line.
Finally, she gets a perfect platform for the Oaks yesterday on the backup fourth up, but she gets a farcically slowly run race which exactly what she doesn't like as shown by her wins in the Flight Stakes and the Spring Champion off brutal speeds.

My opinion is that she has had 3 cracks at 2400 under a variety of set ups against extremely moderate opposition and paddled the final furlong each time. All available evidence suggests she doesnā€™t stay unless you use your extremely generous and involved list of excuses which in all likelihood are most probably incorrect

Yet again you fail to realise there is more to analysing form that just numbers on a piece of paper

Lol Gator please, such a biased view. What more does the big beast from Britain have to do.

IF they had a faster tempo he wins by further. Sorry Gator you need to realise overseas WFA horses are lengths better than ours. Dalasan would have been beaten 10 lengths with a strong pace

Seems people have yet to work out he's the second best horse in world on turf last year and rolled them yesterday in non-deal conditions and probably gone backwards since last year IMO.

Was a huge effort for the mare to roll him once.

Yep, still found it hard to think people had the mare ahead as both were suspect on the ground. Honestly struggle to recall many better performed horses to ever come over here.
