Serious question, If Mitch Robinson threw Lappin to the ground instead of pushing him away, so as the umpire balled it up Lappin was lying on the ground about 3m away from the contest, would Carlton have got a free kick?

I say yes

Don't know what the hell Nigel was doing. Very bad look. I reckon runners should be banned by now anyway, or at least should not be able to hover and linger around the contest. Hit your message and go away.

No it was the Freo runner. The AFL did SFA so good on Lappin as the AFL have clearly said it's okay what Mr Baldy from Freo did.

Argh sod off. We got a free kick and 50m penalty paid against us. If the umpires did the same to Geelong you would've lost tonight's game. So I'm not sure what you're whinging about.

Well at least it confirms one thing. The umpires vision is woeful because if you couldnt see a guy in bright pink among all that blue and white your eyes are completely ****ed.

Mitch Robinson should be cited and asked to front the AFL Tribunal for his inappropriate and immature actions.

Is that a joke?

Lappin should have had his head rammed into the turf for interfering with play.

Thats the whole reason he was in there mate, to clog up the space in the last 30 seconds.

definite free kick.

I say yes. He should not have even been in the f50 anyway

Trouble is, if a free kick had been paid we'd have a thread on here full of people saying " do we really want to see games decided by technical free kicks like that?"

You'd have thought with the debacle last season where people were kicking to the runners they'd have just ****ed them off altogether instead of dressing them in pink. No need for them whatsoever.

It's totally ridiculous. How a clear rule is not in place already where a runner cannot be within 20m radius of any stoppage is a joke. In reality, I would be quite happy if they were not allowed on the ground at all - or at least a very clear rule where it is near impossible for them to be near the ball or even possibly near the next play.

For a runner to be within 5 meters of an umpire who has the ball in his hands ready to ball it up, in, pretty much, the goal square in final seconds of a close game who then ultimately trips over and make contact to an opposition player.... Man, should never ever EVER happen - to me that is more of a free kick than the menzel free kick

Still can't believe Carlton didn't get a free for that.

From the laws of the game pdf: an Official of the Team or such other person of the Team who may from time to time be permitted onto the Playing
Surface, intentionally, recklessly or negligently interferes with the football, a Player of the opposition Team, an Umpire or general play shall have a free kick awarded against them.
