It’s a risk worth taking. At worst these bats go back to Shield and work on something. We know what Khawaja does honestly I was all for it in the middle order where our options were thin. Not the opening spot when we have options and the safety of Lab and Smith and 3&4.

While I understand your thinking - I doubt our selectors will pick a kid to make his debut mid Ashes, opening the batting in a pink-ball test against two great opening bowlers with 1156 test wickets between them..?

Being given a career opportunity at the highest level is one thing - being thrown to the wolfs is another! Give old man Ussie a final hoorah, who knows he might snick a few over the slips and make a 50...

I just see Khawaja as a complete waste of time. It never ends well.

Still there they have both performed well for a number of years are are two good openers on the rise. They deserve a shot at it

Yep either one or Renshaw there’s 3 options. Maddinson I wouldn’t be against either. I get Khawaja in the middle order (we literally have no options there) but we don’t need to go to Khawaja as an opener and this is even as little as I rate Harris

LP1 is spot on, go the younger option. Losing nothing if it fails. We've been there done that with Uzzy and others.

Yeah look at 36 or whatever it’s time to look for the next long term one. Everyone keeps saying Pucovski but we don’t know if that is even half realistic. We need to assume he’s not back. Take one of Street or Hunt either one

Totally agree. I'm a big Pucovski fan, think he could have been our next superstar cricketer but, the fork is in, done and dusted.
Hope I'm wrong.

Yeah I’m at a stage where it will be a bonus if he comes back. Who knows maybe he’s the Warner replacement in 2 or so years. Let’s not rush though and I have no expectations

Wont keep you but who replaces Hazelwood

Richardson and thats quite an easy decision.

You couldn’t go wrong with either Nesser or Richo but I feel Richardson should be in the side for Starc anyway.

Can't disagree too much, looks good when he's good.
Then again my missus looked good once.

Weirdly I’ve liked what Renshaw has been doing in the middle order. The issue is our middle order is set with Lab, Smith, Green and Head. Can’t see those not being picked

Starc only coz it's pink ball test.
Agree with you, just think if you've been 12th man 15 or 16 times maybe you deserve at least one shot at it.

I sort of look at what Hazelwood is and that’s a genuine new ball bowler, that is what Richo is. He’ll be brilliant with the pink ball swings it with a red ball a lot. Neser can open but would he open for Australia nit sure he would, which in turn means Cummins changes roles. Feel they want to keep the roles relatively similar.

Don’t think this decision will be hard. If Cummins was the one missing I’d go Neser.

End of the day it’s his call what he does, if he is happy to play club cricket I see no reason why he shouldn’t be eligible for higher honours

Pucovski really has no other cricket to play with no shield and only the Big Bash cricket on and for his future test aspirations the BBC will not help him at all at this stage.Lets hope he gets through these games OK.

Pucovski will be back playing club cricket 8 Jan,2022
Against Kingston Hawthorn too, not exactly a strong club either, last time they made the 8 was 03/04 and have finished outside the bottom 4 a total of 3 times since then. Could be a bloodbath

No, sorry I agree with you that he should play again if he is willing to play. It’s more that others here seem to think he should not. It’s bloody great to see big names in club cricket
