is zorko in ur best 22 when fit?

Impossible to say. We've got a few fringe small mid/fwd-types who have...you know...had a pre-season. Green, Beams, Sheldon, O'Brien. Don't do it.

Will likely get games in the seniors at some point, but considering he hasn't played a game or really trained in about 6 weeks, he won't be back. He will need match fitness via the 2nds, and will need some solid form to dislodge another player.

Re: So what is Vossy's game plan ?

Hi people

just wondering if someone could help with a DT query.

Golby has been racking possesions in the last two NAB cup games. Is this part of a game plan that's likely to continue, and will golby be the man they continue to use to run the ball out of the back half.

any thoughts would be much appreciated. cheers

Re: So what is Vossy's game plan ?

Golby - check back about 10 posts.

Docherty - hard to say when he'll get a gig. He's not had much of a pre-season, playing his first ressies half-game last weekend, but his class wouldn't go astray. He apparently looked like he very much needed the run.

I've got my fingers crossed for an intro around down-grade time. Then again, I could be leading you astray to get a leg up against you in the TS platinum league.........

Golby's been racking up stats in the last couple of weeks. Will golby continue to be used to run the ball out of the back half, and will the lions continue to use the same gameplan to clear the ball from defense?

any thoughts would be much appreciated. chhers

Broughton v Adcock, what do you guys reckon?

Both have good scoring potential but I would probably give Broughton the edge. Jed tends to be a bit more up and down and has had trouble holding his scoring over the season. Over his career Adcock has also missed quite a few games through injury.

With Broughton the only concern I have there is if he is shuffled into the backline with the return of Mundy and Barlow. Morabito will also come in at some time and Ballantyne has been set for significantly more midfield time. That is added to Mzungu, Fyfe and Hill who have looked pretty good so far as well. He played back early last year and his scoring was not good. After a few injuries he moved back to the role he has been playing so far and scored well. If Freo get a full midfield group fit and Broughton is forced out I think his scoring will drop significantly.

Ranking when fit for use coming out of defense:

1. Hanley
2. Drummond
3. McGrath
4. Golby
5. Docherty (may move up significantly if he performs as he did as a junior)
6. Stiller
7. Talls

Assuming that Adcock is in the midfield.

Re: So what is Vossy's game plan ?

Several people talking down on Lue's pre season in the ruck- has he actually been poor, or is he being managed? he's in my SC team. I thought you could put the house on him.

Will he improve this year in SC and play more time in the ruck?

If Longer plays the majority of games, Leuenberger will spend plenty of time in the ruck - similar to last year when Clark would provide short term relief. When Hudson plays, Leuey will get less ruck time and his scoring may suffer.

He hasn't been particularly impressive in the pre-season. Having said that, Voss hasn't necessarily used him as the #1 ruck all the time either.

I've gone off him for SC simply because of the unknowns.

Hudson would be used if injury were to occur, surely? You expect Voss to play him?

I don't expect Longer to play too many games, put it that way. He's an 18yo ruck - it is very rare that a 1st year player plays the majority of games, let alone one who is 200cm. If he doesn't play, we don't have much choice on the list other than Hudson - our part time options are very, very part time!

3 weeks ago we all (including the club I suspect) had Hudson in the 22 for round 1. It has been Longer's form as a forward, together with the absence of Brown, that has elevated the young bloke into senior contention.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Hudson play at some point in the first 5-6 rounds, just to give Longer a break.

Re: So what is Vossy's game plan ?

Agree with POBT, Longer will play but not over used. His work up forward gets him a game early, but we won't push him. Playing 2nds as #1 Rick will still benefit his development, and Hudson will prove useful as a 2nd Rick when needed.

Re: Ask DT/SC Questions Here (Please Read First Page before Posting)

Is Hanley too much of a risk? Or can he possibly bump his scores up around the 90+ mark?

Also Redden or Rockliff (for DT)? It's doing my head in.

You'll find more discussion earlier in the thread but short answers:

- Hanley should be OK for a 90ppg avg. Some chance he'll exceed that too.

- Redden is my pick for DT.

Re: Ask DT/SC Questions Here (Please Read First Page before Posting)

Has been reported that Bergs has had soreness in his achillies which the club has managed over the NAB cup, but he is apparently right to go. Was a niggle which they just altered his work load for. Probably explains his average NAB cup form.
