A big thankyou to the club/players last night after the game players handed out easter eggs and spread out around the ground.Taking them to all points of the Gabba.Too often last year we didnt have a player come anywhere near us and seemed to focus near the players race. The look on my young fellas face when he got a basket was priceless.Well done to the club.

Hi Lions_insider!,

I came home last night to enter the majestic London NFL competition and have been unable to find anything regarding the process to enter, can you please clarify how to enter the competition.

Also, just a suggestion, see if the team can time the playing of thunderstruck so that the song ends as the game starts, it will add to the atmosphere, it wasnt far off of it last night.

Thanks,

Hey Lions_Insider,
Is it going to be the norm this year that we dont get a pre-match press confsrence from the coach? Havent noticed one for either of the 2 games so far.

Hi,

Chris will still be doing pre-match pressers before most games. Round 1 he didn't because of a few other commitments during the week. He did before Round 2 but we didn't have a camera on the day to film it (Easter Friday). There was an article on our website from it.

Cheers,

More of a suggestion than a question.

My first reaction to Collingwood (taking a leaf from Port Adelaide) adopting Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" as a pre-game anthem was "lol, cringe" but I have to admit I have for years had a clear vision of the Lions doing something similar with Powerfinger's "Pick You Up".

It's perfect. Anthemic, a rallying call about having each others' backs when things get tough, brilliant to sing along to (starts slow and emotional and then kicks in for the chorus). And of course, it's from one of the quintessential Brisbane bands - I mean, they had an album called Vulture Street.

Just a suggestion Lions_Insider in case the club is pondering the "unofficial rock anthem" approach. Better than some cringeworthingly cliched ACDC "na na na na na!" stuff. You only get once chance at this sort of thing if you want to make it work.

First verse is perfect.

When you are set to throw in your hand
When you are far from home
When what you believe is buried in your hands
When you feel outgrown

I'll be the one to pick you up again
When you decide you've had enough of it
I'll be the one
I'll be the one

Great idea and an excellent song! A pre-game anthem is something that really has to be driven by the players and footy department. Definitely something we can look at in the future.

Lions_Insider, can you please do something about the volume of the PA system? It's beyond uncomfortable during the breaks. Footy can be quite social if you let everyone talk to each other - I felt like I've lost half my voice just from trying to hold a conversation with my fellow members one row back at half time.

Hi,

I'll pass this along to our match day team and hopefully the PA system can be turned down a little.

Cheers,

Hi,

Competition entry page is here: www.lions.com.au/majestic

Terms and conditions of the competition are available here.

Cheers,

Love this song

Also completely unrelated but Lions_Insider has there been any work over the offseason on providing better parents facilities at the Gabba anywhere for lions games? I've got a few new parents asking in a parents group and I'd love to reply to them with something more than "good luck the Gabba parents facilities are on par with an 80s built strip mall"

Cheers

Hi,

I don't believe there has been any work over the offseason.

Just copying my answer from last year:

Unfortunately we don’t have any control over where and how the Gabba/Stadium QLD spend their money and we can only advise on what issues and problems we face and encourage them to provide these facilities. As families do make up a large portion of our crowd we definitely are always lobbying for facilities to match this.

Feel free to email the Gabba to ask for more facilities: info@thegabba.com.au

Cheers,

Hi Lions_Insider,

Agree with the previous PA comments about volume.

But I do want to compliment the sound levels at the Block Party. The band created a nice atmosphere and was a nice sound balance to allow relaxed conversations and a place you want to sit.

Couldn’t help but notice how many people were “instagramming” at the Block Party. An awesome addition to game day that I would gladly add to my pre (or post - for 4:40 games) game routine.

Can we get some more healthy food options inside the ground? Feels like it hasn't changed in 10 years.

Hi,

O'Briens look after catering at the stadium and we don't have a lot of control over what they offer.

Comments like yours are good as we do pass the feedback onto them and hope they try and improve.

We organised our own block party outside the stadium on the weekend which had a wide range of food options, including healthy choices. It was popular and well received so it's something we might look at doing more of in the future.

Cheers,

Hey lions insider I notice another price spike in alcohol and the fact they’ve taken away the heavy’s.

The cost for food and drink at the Gabba is beyond ludicrous and the fact now I question whether I can afford my membership as well as a couple drinks and a bite to eat at the Gabba is starting to really play on my mind.

Why spend all the money when I can get a similar atmosphere and spend half the price going to a pub?

Let alone trying to convince a few mates to come with me when to have a semi enjoyable night costs an arm and a leg.

Hi LI,
I would love to see Cate Campbell, who is a Brisbane local, as a lions ambassador. Her experience of “failing” at the Olympics (there is no such thing as a failure at the Olympics in my opinion) and the mental challenge of rebuilding is so positive I’m sure it could be motivating for our players. Amazing athlete and individual.

Hi L.I.

Apologies if this has been dealt with before... I am unable to watch video content from both the Lion's and the AFL websites on my Macs using any of Safari, Firefox and Chrome. I have updated Flash but that hasn't either. Is there a solution available?

Yeah mate easy solution I had the same problem.

Unplug your Mac.

Throw it in the ocean.

But anything other than a Mac, video playback should work fine

It works perfectly for me on all my Apple devices, Always a Lion - not sure what the deal is.

I've got Sierra and High Sierra machines.

Thanks James. Yeh, just tried it on my desktop and it works, but not my Air and powerbook. Mystery. Been having issues intermittently for some time. Unpredictably it starts working, then it goes into hibernation other times. I'm running the latest operating systems too. Weird.

I love my Macs, have been onto Apple products since Apple 2e and would never dream of following Billy Puller's advice - thanks all the same Billy. Sacrilege!

Music, art, movies and TV wouldn't be the same if everyone followed his advice :)
