Love watching Shelton. One of the best servers on tour already.
I enjoy watching him too, he played well tonight! The fundaments are all there to be a very good player. Particularly impressed with his feel out there.

Nice to see Cressy lose; served a ridiculous amount of DF’s. Like two first serves okay, but at what cost? I watched the first set of that then changed to Shelton, was far more enjoyable. A nice atmosphere in Estoril.

Shelton is ridiculous. Improve the fitness and the backhand, and he’ll be top 20 in no time

Looks like Hijikata and Kubler are genuinely having a crack at doubles together.

Since winning AO they have played Indian Wells, Miami and now Houston.

It's a shame Hijikata's singles season hasn't gone so well - not consistently getting through qualifiers, even for 250 events, and not a whole lot of success at challenger level.

Just found out that Hopman Cup has been revived and rebranded and will be played in Nice, France starting in July.
Very interesting. A former Australian player gets a tournament in France. Pity Perth loss the rights to this, ATP Cup is a bit bland.

In Marrakech I was wondering why the matches that should be on the centre court are on court 4. Players refusing to play on the main court due to it being unsafe after the rain yesterday. This tournament lol, how its even a main tour event is beyond me. Currently have O’Connell up against van de Zandschulp, and it’s honestly like watching a challenger with the sounds and surrounding action on outside courts.

ADF a good battle overnight against French teenager van Assche. The youngster showed a lot of promise, nice court coverage, drop shots and BH. But can’t help but feel his lack of height and strength will always work against him.

Thiem vs Shelton in about 2 hours is the one I want to see.

O’Connell fighting hard. Loss the first 6-7 but won the second 6-4. Into the third it is

Well it was supposed to be 'revived' a couple of years back until covid. Sadly TA sold Hopman down the river and replaced it with that forgettable ATP Cup and then the lame Copycat Cup...

But don't worry - there is also the laughable Laver Cup.

.Wish they would just take it back to Davis Cup (the original, not the new 'improved' format) & Federation (no, not Billie-Jean King..) Cup.

Oh mate..
Don’t get me started.

Davis cup have been dragged and destroyed.

ATP Cup is a dud. Rod Laver Cup is just a rich exhibition tournament that allows the corporate to see all the top players at once. Both pathetic and waste of time.

Hopman Cup was fine the way it was. Round robin for the fitness and build up for Aus Open. Absolute travesty it’s in France

Mate. Thiem is back, slowly. That was sublime. Crushed Shelton’s serve. 6-2, 6-2 is a massive confidence boost

Bear in mind that they've barely won a match since the Oz Open.

ADF vs Cecchinato opening QF of Estoril, Thiem faces Halys, and Ruud and Baez should be very good. Should be a solid nights viewing. Houston are seriously behind due to all the rain, will be interesting to see what happens if they get more rain.

Well, ADF/Cacchinato was an excellent match, terrific rallies, but disappointing for Davidovich Fokina.

Thiem got destroyed, just can’t sustain any good level of tennis. And Ruud smashed Baez, so maybe he is finding that form on clay.

In Houston, it’s a disaster. Should be semis tonight and yet they‘re only on 2R matches. Oh boy. They’ll have to play 2R/QF today and SF/F tomorrow. Players going to be stuffed!

Draw for Monte Carlo is out, super excited despite the withdrawals. I’ll get that thread up tomorrow.

3 tournaments this week, all with pretty impressive lineups. Djokovic and Alcaraz in action. Popyrin is actually on court right now in Banja Luka and it’s televised on bein sports. I’m finishing off Monte Carlo first though! I’ll get up the draws later tonight.

Wow drama in Munich. Baena vs Giron. Giron hit a deep BH that was called out, late, by the linesman. Baena netted the ball. The umpire came out of his chair to check the mark and it was in, and he awarded the point to Giron. Baena was angry because he felt the call impacted his shot. It clearly didn’t. It was a late cool, and by the time it was made, the ball had already been netted. They had a bit of a conversation, Baena angry.

The very next point, a lengthy rally eventually finished by a FH winner by Baena. He then yells vamos three times, quite loud, directly at the umpire, staring at him. The umpire then hands an unsportsmanlike conduct warning to Baena because of it. Baena says he did nothing wrong, is angry and demands to speak to the supervisor. Interesting stuff. There was no doubt the yelling was directed at the umpire, however, I didn’t think it was majorly over the top, but I can understand why the umpire handed out the warning.
