Good to see a bunch of Aussies in Phoenix. Besides the Kokk, Poppy & CoC made the main draw, Vukic qualified and even Rinky who fell short in quals still has a slim chance of getting in as a LL.

There was talk with the upcoming changes to Masters 1000 events to mostly all becoming 2 week events (Madrid, Rome & Shanghai this year, Canada and Cincy next year) that there would be some 250 events slotted into the 2nd week. This field is absolutely worthy of it.

Decent effort by the looks. Disappointing loss for Kokkinakis after his great win first up. Although Struff is always dangerous. Popyrin won again, cmon Alexei!

Popyrin lost 6-3 in the 3rd. His opponent, Borges, faces Struff, and they’re both on court just over 4 hours after taking the court for their QF matches! The impact of the rain delay earlier in the week.

As for Alcaraz, he is by far my favourite player to watch at the moment. I could see him winning the French Open in his current form.

OConnell and Kokkinakis loss. But still qualify for the Round of 126.

Tomorrow Popyrin will play first round match v Mikael Ymer

Thompson (still can't believe the way he loss at Indian Wells- was all set up for him to progress) v Molcan

De Minaur qualifies automatically to the Round of 64, the 15th seed. Really need a solid tournament after the shit start he had at Indian Wells.

Such a great Australian presence at Indian Wells and now this tournament. Positive to see.

Korda withdraws from Estoril. This is concerning. Still struggling with the wrist injury that caused him to retire in Melbourne.

3 250 tournaments this week, all on clay. Love the clay. Only 4 top 20 players though, most resting up for Monte Carlo.

Houston:



Loaded with Americans looking to get some clay wins. Kubler plays Verdasco tonight, you’d like to think he’ll win that. Jordan Thompson has JJ Wolf. Most of the field have laughable records on clay so I really don’t know who to predict, could literally be anyone.

Marrakech:



Field for this one at least has some clay specialists. Chile Open champion Nicholas Jarry is the 8th seed, former good player Musetti is the top seed, Cordoba finalist Coria is here also. Could be some good tennis from this one. Popyrin should even get a win too!

Estoril:



Nice looking field. Ruud surely will get some spark back, he desperately needs it. Hurkacz needs some wins after a disappointing Miami showing. ADF went out meekly in Miami also. Thiem tries his luck again, and Shelton was a late entry. For mine the pick of the tournaments for the week.

Ruud has had a very disappointing year on the hardcourt so far, but I'll be very surprised if he keep this form up on his favoured clay. If he doesn't make the finals in that draw then he really is in a funk.

Ruud should win the tournament and its also good to see Thiem out there again, was thinking after his miami loss he might be close to hanging the racquet up. He really seems disinterested

Cressy vs Baena in Marrakech, in front of about 11 people. Not even exaggerating. Baena just hit a ridiculous winner and I don’t think it was applauded lol.

Cressy has saved 2 BP in the opening game. Hard to see him having great results on the clay, but you never know.

Shelton opens up in Estoril in about 20 minutes against the flamboyant Lestienne.
