He’s just hanging on.Paul playing well.
Alex needs to hold his nerve.
Alex needs to hold his nerve.
Just reaching the final is as good a result as I was expecting.
I agree with the people that say 'he will never be a Slam champion, he doesn't have the weapons (blah blah blah etc etc).' But he is a great #2 for a country like Australia (if only we had a consistent #1.) Demon will give it his all everytime. And being top 30 in the world for 3 (4?) years in a row is nothing to sneeze at.
He will retire from the game with a decent bank account. Job done.
Yup agreedHe’s just hanging on.
The inability to hit winners is again standing out. His reflexes, speed and anticipation are all elite, but the lack of offensive firepower will always limit him.
His serve is much improvedAlex does his best. Tries his heart out. Is a lovely guy.
But people keep saying 'but he's no Djokovic or Federer'.... He can't ever win a slam..'
Well - who is??? Many more physically gifted players such as Tsitsipas or Zverev haven't won too many slam titles themselves.
Stef has the all round game to do it.Alex does his best. Tries his heart out. Is a lovely guy.

Repeatedly have said he needs a new coach. Someone that tells him to go for the lines more, to approach the net, to play drop shots. This running from side to side gets old.Good posts, nothing wrong with the analysis. It’s just frustrating that’s all, when the guy has such outstanding defensive capabilities, but offensively falls short. And I don’t know how much of it is mindset or genuine inability.
As I post this he hits a glorious BHDTL winner to bring up set point!
Tsitsipas pisses me off in the fact that if he immediately ditches his dad, gets a new coach and change his attitude, he ll be guaranteed a change man and player.Alex does his best. Tries his heart out. Is a lovely guy.

Good
A couple with tough draws. Do we think Indian Wells deserves its own thread to cover both ATP/WTA? I think so but…?5 Aussies in Indian Wells Qualifiers
Hijikata, Kokkinakis, O'Connell, Vukic, Popyrin
Yup. Could roll into all combined 1000s tourneys?A couple with tough draws. Do we think Indian Wells deserves its own thread to cover both ATP/WTA? I think so but…?
