Alex needs to hold his nerve.

Just reaching the final is as good a result as I was expecting.

I agree with the people that say 'he will never be a Slam champion, he doesn't have the weapons (blah blah blah etc etc).' But he is a great #2 for a country like Australia (if only we had a consistent #1.) Demon will give it his all everytime. And being top 30 in the world for 3 (4?) years in a row is nothing to sneeze at.

He will retire from the game with a decent bank account. Job done.

I agree. He's a essentially a Lleyton Hewitt lite. To me, that's fun to watch but I don't expect him to go all the way in majors

Good posts, nothing wrong with the analysis. It’s just frustrating that’s all, when the guy has such outstanding defensive capabilities, but offensively falls short. And I don’t know how much of it is mindset or genuine inability.

As I post this he hits a glorious BHDTL winner to bring up set point!

Really good stuff by de Minaur. Saved 5 BP’s in the opening game of the third set and has since gone on to dismantle Paul. Up 5-0. Really like the way he’s hitting his BH and the drop shot. Would be the biggest title of his career. Will take him to around 18th in the rankings.

Great work by Alex, this is really the kind of tournament that suits his game to be able to grind people to death.

Looking forward to seeing Alex struggle to get that hat on his head.

Alex does his best. Tries his heart out. Is a lovely guy.

But people keep saying 'but he's no Djokovic or Federer.... He can't ever win a slam.. He has no weapons'

Well - who is??? Many more physically gifted players such as Tsitsipas or Zverev who supposedly have 'weapons' haven't won too many slam titles themselves.

His serve is much improved

Stef has the all round game to do it.
Korda.
Not many else of the top 20. Not convinced Rune Zverev Khachanov etc have it in them.

Repeatedly have said he needs a new coach. Someone that tells him to go for the lines more, to approach the net, to play drop shots. This running from side to side gets old.

Tsitsipas pisses me off in the fact that if he immediately ditches his dad, gets a new coach and change his attitude, he ll be guaranteed a change man and player.
His father is way too controlling
