After the talks in the media of a possible trade of our young star Josh Kennedy, I've seen quite a bit of support from us hawk supporters in a fight for the HFC to hold onto him.
Its apparent Hawthorn were offering him a one year deal, which IMO is not enough for the amount of promise this kid has shown, especially in '09. Kennedy is the next generation of our tough midfield that continues to be our strength. What will letting him go mean to the hawthorn heritage? What will it mean on field in 2010? What will it mean for our footy club in 2015? Your say. What should the HFC do? Do they stick to the one year offer and trade him if he wont accept it? Or do they do what's necessary to keep him.
Josh may believe he's not gonna get the opportunities he may get elsewhere, but he is the future of the HFC. He wont get the support the HFC will give him anywhere else. Hawthorn need to start with an offer to Josh that shows the support he has, and show him the footy club is right behind him and his future at hawthorn.
Believe it or not, players and staff do keep their eye on BF, so lets hope this gets across to the people that matter.

It's incredible that the club would not offer him at least 2 years. I love this kid and think he's definately a keeper. He made huge inroads this year and his endeavour to get in and under at the bounce is excellent. Surely, we have to keep him... I'd be devastated if K3 was traded and we kept other players that have shown little. C'mon Hawks!!

Please keep Josh. He has strength, courage and the Kennedy toughness flowing through his veins. He has shown enough this season to suggest that he could be an important facet of our midfield grunt. Allow him to develop in confidence and I believe that Josh Kennedy will be a big part of a successful future for Hawthorn.

Boot Studder.
Fourth generation Hawk.

Whats the point of giving up a quality player (granted not as a goal kicker..) ,with a good pedigree and capable of giving 7 or 8 years of good service to the club? he sure looks the goods to me.

In and under players with his physique and work rate are not exactly a dime a dozen.

Keep him for at least a two year deal.

I am all for signing him up for another 2 years, but, IF, and I repeat IF, he does not want to stay with the Hawks, then let him go. If he doesn't bleed Brown & Gold, then there is no point in retaining him..I think he is going to be a terrific player, well worth keeping. So, Josh, think long and hard before you throw the towel in, and go to another club. We passionate supporters want you to stay, if that means anything to you at all...:heart::heart:

I love the whole 3 generations at Hawthorn thing. I'm sentimental.

I picked 2 years, would of been more but 2 seems to be the go unless you're a gun player like Hodge.

Would be a very sad day at Hawthorn to see him go. But if he sees more opportunities for himself at another club I guess I'ld wish him all the best with that. Just don't want Hawks to trade him if he wants to stay.

No 20 year deal, so i went with 4

Seriously, He is hawthorn, i wouldnt doubt that during every premiership there has at least been a Kennedy in the team/coaching/working at the club

You dont throw away blokes who hold the most famous hawthorn name, especially when he's just carved his way into our best 22-24 players.

Agree wholeheartedly. JK is certainly part of our future midfield going on the end to his 2009 campaign. He has improved incredibly this year.

C'Mon Joshy you are Hawthorn mate, it's in your blood, at least threefold!!!

Joke of a thread.... do we want to become like Richmond?

I like Kennedy and would like him to stay but if he goes, then so be it.

Crazy

what a difference 1 year makes......if anyone would care to research threads on josh kennedy from a year ago you may understand what i am alluding to here.

for me, he is a definite keeper. having 2 elite 'extractors' in sewell and mitchell is paramount to our midfield performance and the club is now actively seeking a 3rd (burgoyne). K3 needs to act as their understudy and will become elite in the longer term, and remains extremely good value if one of these players goes down. if i were to judge him now compared to mitchell/sewell at the same stage of their careers i'd have him ahead.

if kennedy really is seeking greener pastures, it would appear to only be due to seeking more playing time, if he was after money he would really be best served to remain at the hawks for 1 more year and then spread his wings.

if i were K3 i'd sign for 1 more year, having observed the application and development that he has demonstrated i'd be offering him 2-3.

Fortunately the club employs people professional enough to dismiss any lame internet petition.

Up to those in charge. I'm neither here nor there on Kennedy. He's ok but he's no star. I'll back whatever decision is made.

u had the choice of not participating..u chose to post..

I thought he really showed something in the latter part of the season, and well worth a 2 year contract offer. Would of thought that he would be definitely part of the clubs future - be a bit disappointed if he left butthe clubs future is still very bright especially if Burgoyne and Gibson come across.

I think with Kennedy, more than anything he wants to leave.

Forgot his families history, he is an individual.
He probably knows that at most other clubs he will get a better go and better development that at hawthorn. Personally, I rate him higher than Tuck and would love to keep him, but if he wants out, let him go.
If its Hawthorn who are trading him without him wanting to leave, then thats disappointing.
