2. Rogers
3. Clarke
4. Pomersbach
5. Voges
6. Watson
7. Ronchi
8. Bailey
9. Johnson
10. Tait

4. L Pomersbach
5. A Voges
6. L Butterworth
7. A McDonald
8. Bailey
9. M Johnson

Possibly not Paine, therefore Ronchi at 7 and possibly Jaques opening if he is still around, leaving McDonald out of th team.

My roughy for a few years is Jason Krejza!

For a start, why are we assuming Haddin can't play til he's 35? Everyone else does. He's still going to be in the team at that stage.

He's not going to be the best wicketkeeper batsman in the country, hence not being in the team. Don't get me wrong, he's good, but Luke Ronchi could be better than Gilchrist at this rate. In 3 innings this season for WA, he's averaging 55 but striking at 159.42 while keeping very well.

And will people PLEASE stop pretending that Shane Watson is any good? He bats and he bowls but he does neither well. We don't need an all rounder just for the sake of having an all rounder.

Dan Cullen and Cullen Bailey don't appear to be any good. Expect to see one or even both lose their ACB contracts next season. Aaron Heal has showed a lot more promise.

And the fact that Shaun Tait is an idiot will hold him back no end. Note to Shaun: You must care where the ball goes. Bowling fast is not enough.

Ignoring facts - suggest you compare his Pura Cup average to other batsman around the country.

Sounds like Sandgroper envy. All 3 players are very talented. Still think Bailey is the most likely to suceed at test level, but still has plenty to learn.

Having watched him live at the World Cup, I don't believe believe batsman were thinking geez what an idiot, but rather, can we survive!

so it looks like m.clarke will suceed punter then.

can't see too many other candidates from peoples predictions...is whitey or voges a chance perhaps?

With Tait it's all about fitness - he's the most talented young bowler Australia has but without fitness and the consistency of annoying little injuries he's merely Shane Watson II. It might not be his fault but tough luck. Whenever he's been about to settle injuries have struck him down - the longer this goes on the worse it gets for him. He needs sustained fitness and he needs it now.

There's probably room for the three;

Hilfenhaus, Tait, Johnson

Who cares though?

I just want a ****ing contest and teams to start providing one.
India - can not go with Australia over four tests again. So I'm not expecting much from them.
Ganguly must play/tour. Our flat, batsman friendly wickets will suit him. He might be a flat track bully but that's what our countries wickets are all about in modern times.
Tendulkar w/discipline could cash in.
+ a few others.
nonetheless - India are in for a thrashing as well. :(

Rogers replaces Hayden, Ronchi replaces Gilly, one of those becomes cap 400. Cullen improves considerably under Jenner's tutorledge and replaces MacGill.

Watson and Symonds battle it out for #6 until Symo retires, but in 5 years time I'm going with a smokey of sorts, Henriques to be the #6 at age 24. Needs a few big summers to do so, but he has 5 years to do it, and there's no denying the talent he possesses.

Then White, as a batsman, although hopefully his leg spin is 'handy' in a few years (but I'm not confident on that), and Pomersbach (flavour of the month, but justafiably so though) replace Ponting and Hussey. Pup moves up to #3, and becomes Ponting's replacement as captain. White if he successfully makes a lot of runs as a batsman in the test side becomes vice-captain, and is Clarke's successor as captain eventually.

Lee has quite a few more years in him, but for the excersise, Hilfenhaus and Tait come in for Clark and Lee.

Jaques
Rogers
Clarke
White
Pomersbach
Henriques
Ronchi
Johnson
Hilfenhaus
Cullen
Tait

Looks young, only Clarke will have any kind of considerable test match experience at that stage, but there's a lot of exciting talent there to win more matches than lose, easily.

I did consider a 35 yr old Haddin, and Tim Paine too, but am predicting Ronchi at some stage over the next 5 years will just force his way in thru the one-day side first. He might even jump ahead of Haddin in the test queue.

Cullen talented. Thats streching things a bit far.

Not to have a go at you, but don't get blinded by a few matches from Ronchi. Yes, right now he's awesome, but to say he'll overtake Haddin that easily is naive on your part, as the selectors have a habit of not changing the team just for the sake of it, so if he's still playing well in 5 years time then i'm guessing Ronchi will have to wait just a little longer.

I suppose it says a lot about Australia when we have so many very good players fighting for a spot in this rediculously successful team.

Can't disagree with that, althought Rogers would want Hayden to retire soon, because he is already the wrong side of 30. I expect Gilly to play for 2 more years, and by that stage Ronchi will be 28 and Haddin 32, leading the selectors to opt for the more youthful Ronchi, who will only improve between now and then.

That's a big call to make about someone who, at this stage, is playing NSW
2nd XI, and is batting at #9 in that XI. Henriques has undoubted talent but needs to nail a spot in the NSW side before he can even be mentioned in Test calculations, although as you said he has time on his side.

I hope to be proven wrong, but I don't think White will ever make it as a Test player as IMO his spin bowling will never be of a high enough standard and at this stage his batting technique is not sound. I expect to see Pomersbach play some ODI's or 20/20's this summer and I won't be surprised if he is in the Test team at some stage in the next 3-4 years. He is an incredible timer of the ball, and seems to always have spare time with which to play the ball.
