If Lyon doesn't play they're ****heads

Amen to that.

It's almost like the grass is always greener on the other side.

And every time we drop him, we realise we should never have in the first place *cough Agar, cough Doherty*

And recalling correctly, Lyon killed it last time he played in the sub continent. And he did nothing wrong in the Ashes either. If Lyon doesn't play we are nuts.

So faulkner added to the test squad even though his bowling has been dire lately and he looks pretty ordinary facing spin.

Our current lot are more obsessed with the pace allrounder being the answer to all our problems than the awful england sides were after beefy called it a day.

considering what Pakistan call batting, not sure that it matters who we pick to bowl at them

Yes, Patto is predictably injured.
I have big concerns about Patto, I was at the MCG recently for a junior clinic. Patto was in the nets, bowling fastish - for thirty balls only. I took a bit of footage on the Ipad. I ran in to him later and had a chat and said words to the effect of "what are you up to" - noting that I know him casually through having done a coaching course with him. He told me they are trying to change his action from front on to side on and they expect it to take three months before he will be right to bowl in games.................

From the footage I took - I could see no discernible change in his action. He didn't seem overly confident in things. Be worried, very worried.

Watson talking again about how he wants to open for Australia in all formats

"I have had my best success opening in all formats," Watson told the Sydney radio station 2GB on Tuesday. "I love going in knowing I can just take on the game and not worry about the consequences, which is when I am batting at my best.

"The biggest challenge for me when I am batting down the order is assessing the situation of the game and also trying not to worry about getting out and that's normally when I get into a slightly negative mindset, which can affect my performance at times."

He doesn't want to feel like he's under pressure. Or think about a game situation. This is a senior player being honest about how he views cricket. Having read this, I'd rather they just didn't pick him at all anymore for test cricket. Put ANYONE in there in place of him, who will value having the chance to play.

Having said that, I wish he'd open in ODIs.

Rogers has to go in all forms of the game.

To be replaced by who though?

I mean we don't even have a test number 3 and then you want to add to the issues by dumping rogers who at least has some form in test cricket the last 12 months.

Our batting stocks are truly shocking right now so rogers has done enough to stay for the indian series, this isn't the last era where you needed a 45+ average to hold your spot in the top 6.

Yeah. Can't see Rogers going. Can't play spin but he'll do well here and in England.

For the number 3 it's Smith, Watson, Shaun Marsh or Hughes. All with big issues- do we want Watto getting caught lbw all the time in England? Can we trust Shaun? Is Hughes up to it?

But we will have a new number 3 against India.
