You'd imagine so, he'd still be regarded as the back up. He'll only play if Lyon brings his form into the first two Tests against India, no way we'd ever play two spinners at home.

I know he lacks pace but i feel Sayers deserves a shot with the form he has been in.

It annoys me that the T20 players did not play this round in the Shield. Blokes like Watson and White would be pushing for a test selection and we have no recent form to go off.

I'm happy for Ferguson to come in but I don't want to see another new player thrown into the number 3 spot. White would be good in the middle order bit he will have no 4 day cricket to go off.

Hughes is on stand by if Rogers does not produce and Whiteman for Haddin who will be right under the pump if he doesn't do something.

Ultimately I have the feeling Clarke won't let Smith bat at 3, he seems happy to hide his better players down the order.

I'm a supporter of Lyon but if we get a bouncy Gabba pitch surely this is the time to play 4 seamers. Although in saying that I want both Watson and Marsh in the side so that would make it 6 seamers. Lyon will play. Ahmed bowled well but of he didn't get a guernsey in UAE I don't think he'll get one here. Would just be another stop gap and Lyon seems to go alright on Aussie wickets.

Not really, no. Ferguson hasn't put in a good shield season for a while, and Sayers lacks a lot of penetration. White, Hughes, Rogers, Maxwell and Voges are better bats outside of your side that are better batsmen than Ferguson. I'd have Coulter-Nile, Siddle, Starc, Behrendorff and Hazlewood fit ahead of Sayers as well.

Ah Eth-dog.. the consistently incorrect. Ferguson put up good numbers last year, averaging 56 over 13 innings. The year before he averaged 40.

Sayers is averaging 22 and if he isn't penetrating then how is he picking up so many wickets? Oh thats right, you don't have to bowl at 150km/h to pick up wickets. Glenn McGrath was never that penetrating and took wickets. You have to know how to work the ball at his speed (130km/h) and he does it perfectly. His spell of swing bowling against QLD was one of the best by an Australian I have seen in ages. Watson is a similar type of bowler to Sayers and performs adequately but due to his injuries we cannot bowl him like we can Sayers. Sayers is also probably a better swing bowler.
