He's having a workout with Detroit this week.

So he's at least in consideration at #5.
He was between 15-19 on most boards before the combine testing. His athleticism is a real weapon. With his 6-11 wingspan he could end up being the Boomers starting 4 by the next Olympics.

I just hope his offensive game continues to develop. Having all these defensive panthers roaming the court is great, but once hangs them up, the Boomers need someone to step up as an offensive threat.
The hope in terms of an eventual Patty replacement would have to be Proctor.

I love Giddey but he isn’t the outside threat that Patty is.

I love Patty, but he doesn't have the all-round offensive ability of Josh's little finger.

And we weren't discussing just outside shooting.

The statement was about someone "stepping up as an offensive threat" when Mills retires.

Giddey has averaged more points and assists in his rookie season than Mills has in his 13 seasons in the NBA. When he's still a few months younger than the top 2022 draft prospects

Patty has been a FIBA god for us, but Giddey is offensively on an entirely another level to Patty. Giddey scopes to be a 20/8/10 type in his mid 20's in the NBA.

He is going to piss all over FIBA ball in the near future as 6-8 PG with that offensive production.

The Australian team announced for the World Cup qualifying tournament with Thon Maker as a notable inclusion.

Odd kind of group. Lacking the experienced guys like Creek and Sobey.

Good on Delly for never missing a chance to pull on the green and gold. The last time he played with Thon though, things got ugly...

Should still get through comfortably. Better for these NBL guys to get a taste of FIBA ball now for when we really need them

Definitely an odd sort of bunch, but good to see some guys who could be apart of the Boomers future at major tournaments included.

Delly, McCarron and Maker will play 30+ minutes every game (it's 10' quarters still, right?) and then from there a couple of decent forwards would be nice, I must admit I've watched maybe 3 or 4 NBL games this year at most so wouldn't know a lot of these guys but it's not as if China, Japan or Chinese Taipei will be good enough to challenge us.

I'm looking for a news piece done on Josh Giddey, I originally found it on bigfooty but I think maybe it was one of the weekly nba threads and I can't find it again.
This video shows some parts of the piece, from about 1:20 when his parents are being interviewed in their lounge room is part of it but the whole thing was over 20 minutes long as far as I recall.

Two more Aussies join the NBA ranks today.

Dyson Daniels going at 8 to the Pels wasn’t surprising. Luke Travers going at 56 to the Cavs was slightly less expected.

So how do people see our squad for the next FIBA world cup?

Giddey, Daniels, Landale, Thybulle, Mills, Ingles, Exum, Reath, Green, Goulding, Maker

Anyone missing?

Is Aron baynes a chance?

Nah retired.
I haven’t read that, an article earlier this year had him aiming for an nba return

Just noticed he’s 35 so probably not likely anyway

It's a small squad apart from Landale/Reath/Maker. I'd wager Nick Kay gets in, only 29 and a solid 4 or small ball 5 option.

1: Giddey/Mills
2: Exum/Green/Goulding
3: Thybulle/Ingles/Daniels
4: Maker/Kay
5: Landale/Reath

Mills is pretty much the only one limited to a guard position, the others can play a 3 or 4 (for Matisse and Ingles in particular) so it gives some really good flexibility.

Former NBA player Mangok Mathiang is returning to Australia with a very good basketball resume behind him. While Lual-AcuilI would also be a good chance as I think his game is developing nicely. I think they are competing with Thon Maker for a spot.

Xavier Cooks, Mitch Creek and Luke Travers the outside chances. I really like what Cooks could bring at international level. He really could be a massive surprise packet.

Kay''s game is so well suited to international ball so I think he has to make it. I think one of Reath or Goulding has to miss out. There is likely to be injuries so both probably still make it.

There is plenty of length which in modern basketball is more important. Exum, Green, Thybulle and Daniels in particular.

I’d say out of Reath and Goulding that Reath would be the one more likely to miss if either did, purely due to the number of bigs we have that are at a similar level. The only other player we could pick that really brings what Goulding does is Vasiljevic.
