Thinking you are getting a raw player @ age 19 is a lot different to getting a raw player @ 23. Also using it with a number 10 pick.

seriously man - just lay off it.

Do you really think an NBA team isn't doing their due diligence on information that is so easy to get a hand on? You don't think they looked into all the talk that was happening very publicly before the draft? You don't think it would be easy for them to get access to all of his past records? Once Maker entered Australia his identity would be clearly documented. Do you think Australian Immigration is that easy to hoodwink that his guardian was able to just create a new identity with a new date of birth? (I don't know how else you think this happened - you can't just make up information for a passport)

The Bucks were very very happy to draft him. He is looking like a great prospect.
Just get behind the kid and stop being a ****ing arseh*le... you're worse than the guy who created a thread about Ben Simmons being a bust.

You seem mad. I mean, all you need to do is look into the past of his former tutor Edward Smith. He has done this many times before. As per the article, getting a relative sending in a "real birth certificate" is all they need to make changes to passport/immigration information.

No I'm just sick of people who have an obvious chip on their shoulder.

All of the people who make these kind of claims just come across to me as people who probably got schooled by guys like Thon and Ben when they were still teenagers and now just do what ever they can to talk them down.

He's a young aussie who's got a chance to make a serious name for himself in the NBA - just get behind him and leave all this shit alone.

The Bucks clearly thought he was worth the risk. The way he develops over his career will determine how he ultimately gets judged, not his age.

I got nothing to win or gain here. Im all for Aussies doing well, however when it comes to the integrity of the game, thats where it stops. What he is doing is fraudulent.

If it's true that he's older than he claims, and if it's true that the Bucks somehow didn't look into that enough, then he may have fraudulently got himself drafted in the lottery. He still would have been drafted and he still now has to earn his own way as an NBA player. It's not worth dwelling on the possibility because the only real victims would be the Bucks and if they took him at 10 without questioning his actual age and experience, then it would be hard to feel sorry for them. In any case, I don't think they're feeling robbed.

I umpired Jon Hay (ex Hawk) when he was in year 9 and he was dunking in games. He's nowhere near as tall as Thon.

Yeah not that uncommon, Jack McVeigh was dunking in 8/9 from videos I've seen.

I mean he is 21 and was listed as the 69th best player (if he wanted to go into the draft) of the 2016 class. Seems decent but doubt he is even close to Mills, Exum and Simmons.

When he's allowed to have the ball in his hand and he aggressively attacks the basket few people can stay in front of him.

From a few Utah blogs they really don't get how Snyder uses him, often puts him in the baseline corner as spot up shooter, not his game at all.
He is still very raw in terms of running an offence and passing the ball which is why I think he gets shunted to the corner. But he is getting more aggressive and learning to get to the basket less recklessly if that makes sense. With his pace he is hard to stop.

With the ability of Delly, Mills and Ingles to hit threes at 40%+, if Dante and Thon can shoot them at a respectable clip, you could easily run an Aussie team out there that would stretch the opponents all the way out.

Would be a bit small with skinny Thon at C and Ingles at 4, but would work for patches. Ideally we’d find an athletic 4/5 that was about to bang with the bigger boys. Not easy to find though.

EDIT: Oh, just forgot about Simmons, him as a playmaking 4 with 4 shooters to cover his lack of shooting would be heaven.

If Isaac Humphries develops there's one big body to throw in the middle to bang with the big boys.

Isn't that the same league Nathan Jawai got MVP in a few years back? Pretty sure he started less than a handful of games in the NBA..

So because he wasn't any good Jonah won't be? I think Jawai won the MVP for the final 4 game 5 didn't he? I suppose the NBL has improved quite a bit in the past few years. I wonder if it might be possible for another comp to do so, hmm
