Foxtel directly with them giving the FTA rights back to ABC???? (It's pretty much the only way that Fox/Murdoch can get the rights if Seven are done with the sport).

Wouldn't be the worst bit of publicity for Uncle Rupert to put the rights on an affordable/accessible network.

Why would Seven be done with the sport? The BBL, WBBL, Men's international and Women's international series is an easy fill for summer TV schedules?

IMO the days of ABC showing sport is over, particularly if it is played at night.

That is "if" Seven are done. Constantly taking CA to court aren't the actions of a negotiating partner that would want to continue a working relationship I would have thought.

Seven has already moved away from the traditional "sport on weekend" model with Saturday's usually Fox exclusive BBL, it wouldn't shock me at all if they decided to move away from the loss leading/promotional sport lead in and just roll whatever Free to Air crap those stations churn out in non-sport moments full time.

Just like Kyrgios would of helped the tennis deal, the lack of star power will hurt the cricket rights.

The Australian team doesn't have a batsman you have to see bat, an express bowler or someone that spins it. They are a good team but there is no one that you have to watch.

Not just the Australian team, either.

As good as he is, nobody has ever thought "I can't wait to see Sam Curran bowl tonight".

Marnus and Smith are top 5 bats in the world, Cummins and Hazlewood are top 5 bowlers in the world. What star power are you talking about?

They lack the personality to be performers that will get big crowds through the gate. People used to go to see Warne as much as they went to see Australia.

that "x-factor"
Well which players in the world are there right now that are X factors in test cricket? Kohli, Stokes and possibly Rabada? Kohli hasn't made a ton in 3 years, Stokes is inconsistent, and Cummins is just as good as Rabada in test cricket. Australia are one of the best few test teams in the world at the moment with star power everywhere.

Theres no other X factors I can think of

I think if he played for a more mainstream test nation, Rashid Khan's pulling power would trump them all.

They are all great players and they are fast but none are must watch.

Warne was once in a generarion but I'm talking Warner when he first come on the scene in the short form, Gilchrist when he was was batting, Symonds in the field, even Brett Lee when he was young and quick.

The best players are not always the must watch in my opinion.

I don't understand why CA would be 'nervous to attach its brand to Channel 10'. Ten effectively built the Big Bash, CA and 7 have diminished it with each passing year. And I understand Paramount is new to sports broadcasting but it's an international company with plenty of money.

Given the disaster that's been Paramount+'s coverage of the A-League (summed up the other week when games had to be streamed on You Tube), I can totally understand why CA are reluctant to get involved with them.

10 unfortunately has a stink around it which isn't entirely unwarranted. Even the Melbourne Cup has rated poorly on 10 compared to when it was on 7. I can understand CA being worried that people simply won't tune into 10.

Imo I think a lot of people still relate the BBL successful years with the coverage on channel 10, so it would have an initial solid fan base. BBL needs a big overhaul though, it's become very stale.

Not sure whose brand is worse for who here.
