only a quick job but something like this?

This and the chevron design work pretty good. I would tidy up so the ends of the boomerang run off the edge and leave straight cut offs. Stylise it more so its representative of a boomerang but not exact. I'd put a deep red on the left, leave the yellow and put green where blue is. Stars colours can be played with either yellow or white

Has anyone thought of or posted my idea of changing the background to bottle green on the flag, replacing the Union Jack with the coat of arms and changed the star colours to gold?

this should be somewhere on the flag:

There's an element from the can that is already on the flag, and will most probably remain on the flag for the foreseeable future.

If you want to associate the Southern Cross with being from the can, we have solved your problem.

A very interesting watch, though based on American city flags, it does make some really good points that could certainly be considered if Australia ever does change flags.

After watching this it's obvious that most alternate designs for the Australian flag are terrible.

Too many colours, too many elements, too much symbolism being crammed in.

We need to think Japan, not Mozambique.

I think this one so far, particularly after watching;

But there must be a way to have a kangaroo on the flag without it looking naff; it's as emblematic to us as the maple leaf is to Canada
