why exactly doesn't Gillespie deserve a contract?

If you consider the retirees, his service, age and recent form he was always likely to be retained on the 25.

Hopes is a far better cricketer than Mcdonald. consistently good for Queensland and is a genuine alternate one day all-rounder option. better than White imo.
