Kinda funny how our guys probably got paid 15k more in match payments for this test than the Windies guys, Travis Head should donate his match payment for getting a king pair (I joke). But that is the problem really, ah well.

Fantastic win by the Windies.

If 15K is the only difference between the two teams I'd be amazed. I imagine it'd be more that Scott Boland as 12th man is probably on equivalent money to all but the Windies captain.

I think I heard our match payments are pretty high, maybe the disparity isn't as much. But a squad guy like Marcus Harris who doesn't even play cricket it seems, would be paid more the highest West Indies player, that is absolutely the case, pretty sad.

Why that ICC fund needs to be a thing, it won't though.

It's hard because the difference in economies is obviously a thing, but Indian/Saudi t20 throws a huge spanner in the works.

yeah it's more complicated than 'everyone should get paid the same', there's such a difference in TV rights deals and how much each country makes from certain yours. I don't know how it works in others sports that play internationally, cricket is pretty unique in that regard.

But the gap between nations has definitely grown because our guys get paid a heap and others just don't, we have some very ordinary cricketers on big coin, Marcus Harris is scamming a career doing nothing for example,

Things need to change if we want more of these contests.

I've clearly said test series. My point was about the series that have been played. Do you now understand the meaning of a series? My point isn't random since it's a trend. You're getting more worked up than when Adelaide tried to claim a goal when it hit the behind post...
It is also just a negative way to look at it imo. You can just as easily say our only loss in our last 4 series is a 2-1 loss to a team who has won 16 straight series at home.

Lol what a w***er of a captain, quick let's play another nice guy card to avoid criticism 😂View attachment 1894248
God forbid we aren't all just miserable bastards that go through life crying like petulant children anytime something goes against us

Hazlewood doesn't get many top order wickets against the better batting sides, his tight so builds pressure but his a minnow basher
51 wickets @ under 27 against India
76 wickets @ under 26 against England...

It’s a fair point. That last session victory in the last test against Pakistan away takes on a great deal of importance I think given what else has happened to this side. If that went the other way the side would be looking at:

Home ashes win
Away draw SL
Away ashes draw
Away India loss
Away Pakistan loss
Home SA win
Home WI win
Home Pakistan win
Home WI draw

It would put a lot of pressure on this series with NZ: a loss in it to add to the above record would make that list look decidedly average.
Instead, with the Pakistan away win, even a loss to NZ still makes the overall record look still pretty reasonable IMO especially with the WTC final victory thrown in

I think it is just the way sports media and social media had gone causes everything to be the best of all time or the worst of all time with little nuance.

This team over the past 2-3 years is the best team we have had in a decade. They have accomplished a ton, this is the most even distribution of talent we have had in the time span. Bowling attack is elite and a batting line up where on any given day i think anyone in the top 6 can make runs.

Now Smith is clearly no longer at his absolute best, Head is great but does lack consistency and Marsh probably pretty similar. Green still getting settled and obviously yet to cement that spot. Marnus is a proven test quality batsman but is lacking for for a sustained period now.

This was not a team that could go head to head with some of the great Australian teams of the past, but it is a really good team that has acquitted itself really well for the most part over a sustained period of time. I think it puts a lot of pressure on that home series against India later this year, winning that i think will put a nice full stop on this little mini era, lose that and i think it does have a bit of a negative effect on how it may be remembered.

tldr - This is a very good team, inarguably a top 2 team in the world over the past couple years and they have accomplished a ton. Instead of whining and sooking some should praise Pakistan and the Windies for delivering a fun summer in a year where most were writing it off before it had begun.

He bowled 17 in this game, 10 in 2nd innings. For mine he was our second best quick behind JH for building pressure, specially in his 1st innings. Out of the box hypothesis, Cam Green to replace Josh Hazlewood as our next specialist seamer. He is far superior to a 4th/5th change spell bowler.
I thought he bowled really well in the 2nd innings and thanks for the dropped catches again  could easily of had 3 wickets

But no Bgman don't want green as just the specialist seamer when josh retires happy the way it is

also found it interesting with greenie back marsh bowled less overs ...and marsh didn't look 100% for me this test in the field

Personally think the No.6 spot should be occupied by Marsh or Green, can not play both in the same team.

If Shamar Joseph won Man of Series. well deserved as he did win the second Test almost single handely. But commiserations to Josh Hazlewood whose 14 poles @10. e/c 2.22, must have been an extremely close second and is probably the boy from Bendemeers best two match series in five years, if not his career.

Certainly and closies, those that flew thru the cordon or mills short of fielders. But his 7 first innings overs showed he has the accuracy and pressure building ability of Hazlewood, even bowling sub his economy rate.

To be fair to Joseph, he only got 3 innings to bowl in and he had a busted foot in one of them.

Hazlewood - and yes it does need to be remembered he competed with three other world class teammates for wickets - got four full innings to bowl in

A bruised big toe is a bit different from having a busted foot....yeah the kids effort was outstanding and heroic, but let's not over play it.

There was blood coming from it: yes it’s not a war wound I understand that but when the ball doesn’t actually deflect further towards fine leg or the slips cordon, that usually means it’s actually hit flush, ie. it’s trying to push the nail in. That is ****ing painful and you could see him walking between deliveries that he was in real genuine pain and he didn’t even have his own shirt at the ground to begin with so his own team staff weren’t expecting him to bowl

It wasn’t Graeme Smith but it was a bloody big effort
