PROS
  • We were much better this week than last
  • Elliot Yeo is a brute in the middle and has a real hunger for the contested footy
  • McGovern smashes packs, clunks marks and has a lovely kick
  • Bennell is very clever and did a great job on Rioli
  • I thought Gaff worked into the game and did pretty well

+ Goal Kicking Accuracy! No Injuries?? (those are the main ones). Also McGovern, Yeo, Gaff, Shuey, Bennell, First and Last Quarters. Improvement on last week (but that's not saying much).
- 2nd and 3rd quarters, MacKenzie, Cox, most of the rest of our team

Positives

McGovern gave a genuine forward target and also looked good when dropping back in defense
Naitanui has started holding marks around the ground just not in F50
Yeo is making giant strides as a mid
Brown proving himself as a versatile defender
Benell played well on rioli and has cemented himself as our best small defender

Negatives

Everything else

Gaffs kicking lacked a little polish at times today, otherwise I thought he did ok. Was surprised he ended up with 3 goals.

McGovern was the biggest positive out of today though, we might have unearthed a gem here.

Another positive was Wellingham came on hungry as the sub and had an impact, i'd leave him sub again for next well.

Negativs:
-Cripps was awful
-Emac had his worst game of the season
-Darling was woeful

+ McGovern, about time we had a young kid show up the stale shit in the club.
+ Natanui, some of his ruck work was outstanding

- The skills in our club are the worst in the league. Absolutely shit. Under 12's have better skills.
- Priddis led the way in poor disposals and poor option choosing
- Cripps was nowhere to be seen
- Schofield
- The rest of our team and club and CEO and president and cleaner. Sack them all.

Positives

- Brown's beard is looking thick and strong

Negatives

- We're going to have to do better at being flogged than that if we want to out-tank Richmond and Carlton and get some sweet, sweet draft picks

  • Only midfielder in our team who actually hunts the footy is Yeo.

  • Nicnat is basically back to playing as good as he used to.

  • Xavier showed just how classy he was against his old team

  • Bennell was solid all game.

  • McGovern came in for his second game and was better then 98% of the team. Makes sense.

Positives

- Nic Nat
- Yeo
- McGovern, cemented his spot in the 22
- Shuey getting the ball will build a little more confidence didn't use it too badly
- Ellis, gun

Negatives

- Back line, Hutchings, Selwood, Cox, Darling, our skills, missing simple targets 20m away that I could hit and I have just had a knee op.

Seems there was a lot of positives considering the shocking result and general effort.

Gaff had a good game and although he's a bit of a cheat, he's the best one we have.
NicNat looking great and holding marks, massive tackle, saved a few goals.
Gov!
Yeo looks like the real deal and 10 year player
Ellis early was good
Darling, and Emac can't posibly be that bad again
Although we lost, we actually kicked some goals (makes a nice change).
Bennell - give this man a contract extension!

Love the way Gov attack the ball in the air, taking more grabs than I seen our key forwards have taken
Big negative was our skills, if you can't kick you can't play, seeing some of our players missing very easy passes under no pressure is a coach killer. Also hate the way they kill us on the spread but we found no spread ourselves.

  • Only midfielder in our team who actually hunts the footy is Yeo
Struck me today how often our mids hang off the footy. Hardly ever see one of our players crash into a pack or throw themselves at a loose ground ball without regard to their own safety in an attempt to win it

Cripps at 3 possessions would have to be going home pretty worried about being dropped. As meager as our depth is, Simpson will have to react to that.

Just not hungry enough. Masten, Selwood and Shuey. Don't want to win a contested ball.

Yeo is already everything they should have been. Tall, quick, hungry, strong, and excellent overhead.

If we draft another undersized mid to join those 3 i'll be annoyed

Cripps APPARENTLY was tagging birchall.... who had 22 touches

Besides cherry picking goals here and there (quite rarely) what does Cripps even offer?

At least LeCras brings other players into the game

Talk to Thorne, he's Cripps's number 1 fan.

What's even worse for Cripps today is that he only laid 2 tackles. So if he WAS running with Birchall, that's a pretty damn piss poor effort

Considering the ball was just pumped long out of our backline all day under pressure I'm not sure how Cripps stands a chance of impacting the game? I would be more worried about that issue than Cripps having only 3 disposals, wouldn't you?
