Just curious, is anyone planning to see American Sniper ? Aside from the fact it has a grade douche Bradley Cooper in it, I have no plans on seeing it, without trying to get political, it just seems like a propaganda puff piece, that probably neglects to cover how many innocent Iraqis who were accidentally killed by US snipers.

Definitely wouldn't go as far as Michael Moore in his scathing critique of the film on twitter (which definitely was hurtful and offensive to the widow of the Sniper this movie was based on) but I would find it very upsetting and uncomfortable to watch. I find most movies I've seen disturbing anyway, aside from All Quiet on the Western Front, a timeless classic.

Directed by Clint Eastwood... I respect his body of work enough to give it a go. There's usually more to his films than your average Hollywood release.

Not with this one, standard Hollywood produced war movie.
Thought Eastwood would have delved deeper into character development / emotional fare of these characters.
Nope.
You have seen this movie 10 times, even if you don't see it.

Ouch... I'll wait for it to come online so I can ditch it at leisure.

I loved it too, as did Papa Homer. My brother and HBF both disliked it--we all went together so it's interesting to see how polarising it is.

Won't be rushing out to see it again. One thing I will say is that the acting in it was brilliant.

I thought I had posted that I went and saw Birdman on Sunday night but can't see my post. I didn't like it either plus the drumming gave me up headache. But I thought Michael Keaton was fantastic. Also didn't really get Ed Norton's role in the film. Loved the scene between Keaton and the film critic in the bar. Hope Keaton gets the Oscar.

Harker I went and saw Force Majeure last week and I really liked it. Off to see Love is Strange with John Lithgow next week.

Ed Norton was basically playing a parody of Ed Norton. By all accounts he's a real prick to work with. I thought he was hilarious.

I was more confused and frustrated with Gone Girl and things that went unexplained so I went and read the book. The book was a bit better and at least I understood certain things. Still thought it had loads of holes in the story but Ben Affleck looked fantastic.

Went and saw the new Tim Burton movie last night called 'The Eyes' which is based on the female artist Keane who did all the paintings of the children with hollow eyes and her crazy husband. It was pretty good and with a few laughs. I love Tim Burton movies and haven't seen one for a while. Great way to spend a Wednesday night in a cinema with air conditioning.

Intasteller was a great flick. It goes for ages. Much better if you can watch it on a good size screen with good sound.
Also really liked Fury. Don't usually like war movies but it was interesting. Seeing how brutal tank warfare was.

American sniper was ok but I would say lone survivor was far superior and also a true story. Theory of everything was good too!
