That seen where they're tiptoeing past the jail guards etc had me in stitches :thumbsu: :thumbsu:
I loved them stealing the picture haha. Also that scene where they chase Dafoe down the mountain. "He's a madman - why are we chasing him and what do we do when we catch him?" :D

The Revenant was a bit of a let down for me as i expected much more.

The major scenes were excellent but there was just to many needless flashbacks which i reckon made the movie 45mins to long.

Great story line based on a true story and credible acting but i still was let down maybe because i expected so much, still worth watching though.

6/10.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E
If you want light entertainment in the form of a funny action spy movie, this is perfect.
Would definitely recommend 7.5/10
If you liked that try SPY. Just be aware that this film does deserve its "R" rating, so put the kids to bed first. You'll need to look past the obvious to see all the gags going on in the background and you'll be constantly thinking, "Did they just say that???".

Ex Machina
Up there with Inherent Vice for my film of the year. Sci-fi psychological thriller. 8/10
Absolutely loved this film.

For anyone who loved Zero Dark Thirty you may also want to try Traitor.

The Revenant
Good flic, amazing cinematography, but it's not a 'great' movie. 6/10

The Big Short
This is an absolute cracker. Great script, great acting, great ideas, very funny. 9/10

My children Alison and Chris went to the Sun Theatre in Yarraville last night to see The Hateful Eight.

Look who introduced the film.

Tarantino, Samuel L Jackson and Kurt Russell attended the earlier session and Tarantino stayed around to introduce the movie at their session. My daughter has just texted me "and we got a nod from Samuel L Jackson as he left too. Starstruck!" My son is a big fan. I asked him about the film. "Tarantino's films have never given me a good first impression, this one was no different. Once I can watch them a few times, I start to notice the stuff I like. It certainly wasn't bad though."

Looking forward to going and see Room which starts at the end of January. I read the book and bawled my eyes out.

Also went to a media event last night with an open bar to the next crop of festival movies for PIAF. The main movie was 'A Brand New Testament', it was terrible but at least I got a few red wines in which made it a lot better.

The Hateful Eight
This is Tarantino's 8th film, and I would say his 7th best. After Inglourious Basterds and Django, it's a bit disappointing. Seems more slapstick and silly than usual, and lacking the really great moments. 6/10

My son recommends that you watch Tarantino films a few times to appreciate his movie making. As for me, I wouldn't have a clue.

I thought it was good. Slow build up, but intersting.

Also watched another of his films the other day called Death Proof. Not bad also. Different, like all his films.

Didn't get a great review from Leigh Patsch from the Herald Sun either.
Thinking I might give this one a miss. MEB_

I really liked Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Django and Inglorious Basterds (probably in that order).

7th best might still be better than a lot of other movies going around.

Yeah, it's not a bad film, it's just not up to his usual standard.
I would say I love 6 of his, and hated Death Proof. Though to be fair, the studio screwed him on that one and released it as a way too long feature, rather than a shortened film to be shown in a double bill as was intended.

Jackie Brown is my fav.
