Spectre
Despite the mixed reviews thus far I went into this one with high expectations. How could I not, being a big fan of the Bond franchise?
Skyfall and Casino Royale in particular are up there among the best in the franchise, so surely Spectre will follow suit, right?
Wrong. Oh so, so wrong.
I never thought I'd see the day where I was bored during a Bond movie, but that's exactly what this was - boring. I go to a Bond movie expecting to be enthralled and entertained from start to finish, and whilst there were a few cool 'Bond-like' scenes, they were few and far between.
Leading into the release of the film there was plenty of hype surrounding Monica Bellucci as a Bond girl, yet she was in two scenes. I was not timing it, but she wouldn't have been on screen for more than 5 minutes in a 2.5 hour long movie.
Christoph Waltz is a wonderful actor and could have been one of the best Bond villains in the entire franchise....but his role was very poorly written.
I've been a big fan of Daniel Craig in his movies but he seemed well off the mark here....as if he was just going through the motions.
Swing and a big miss. Hopefully they bounce back with a fantastic movie next time around because this fell well short of expectations generated by the Bond name.
Quantum of Solace was terrible but it seemed as though this movie was doing everything possible to be held in a similar regard as the worst Bond movie ever made. Wasn't far off it, to be honest.
2/10. And that's being generous.
