It was O.K. but somewhat forgettable at the same time.
Not a particularly great year for movies but in recent weeks:

Birdman: 8.5/10
Whiplash: 8.5/10
Imitation Game: 7/10
Interstellar: 7/10
Time Lapse: 6.5/10
Life Itself: 5/10
The Hole: 6.5/10

Next in line: Force Majeure & Maps to the Stars

Film of the Year? Boyhood by a mile with Enemy & Under the Skin next.

Gee Harks, you must get through some popcorn & choctops....

Not at all...........but a few Ballast Point Big Eye's go O.K.

Lots of catching up to do, doing 2 last night and may go again with 2 tonight.......getting there.

Haven't tried the Ballast, will put them on my "to do" list.
Have been enjoying some summer Lord Nelson Three Sheets Pale Ales whilst watching a movie or two recently.
Nice drop also :thumbsu:

This country is ordinary in the ability of getting its hands on the real stuff, so when we luck in to get some premium beer/stout come our way, you have to get in early. Going weird tonight with a La Trappe Quadrupel, Youngs Ale, Kozel Dark along with a Big Eye. That will see me through.

Could do worse than watching The Drop whilst partaking. Have you seen it yet?

Oh Liam !!!!!

Wasn't planning on seeing Taken 3 (least in the cinemas) but after watching that, now in the mood for it :D :D

Harker I went and saw two nights one day on Saturday night with friends. The movie was split 2/2 but I love Marion Coulitard (SP!) it is a bit slow but I really liked it. There's a few festival movies that will keep me busy over summer, there is one called Jimmy's Hall set in Ireland which is in a few weeks.

I'm off to see Whiplash tomorrow night hopefully it is still playing. Also it is cheap night. I've had a few fri4ends who have seen The Intimation Game and all have really liked it. However I can't stand Kiera Knightly.

Keira Knightley is actually quite good in The Imitation Game. I really liked the movie, don't let her stop you from seeing it!

Just watched a doco called 'the staircase'. Pretty lengthy (10x 45min episodes) but they're all on YouTube and overall I thought it was a really good watch for those of you who like their courtroom dramas. Would have liked if the doco was a little more neutral in its approach (ie show both sides of the case) however I still really enjoyed it.
Rating: 8/10

Finally went and saw Whiplash on Wednesday and I really liked it. The actor who played the drummer annoyed me and he was a bit whimpy.

Harker don't bother with Ida it is terrible. My sister really wanted to see so I gave up my Friday night to see it and we both hated it. I loved it however as it was filmed in black and white.

Saw the shorts to American Sniper and it is not my type of movie..

Just curious, is anyone planning to see American Sniper ? Aside from the fact it has a grade douche Bradley Cooper in it, I have no plans on seeing it, without trying to get political, it just seems like a propaganda puff piece, that probably neglects to cover how many innocent Iraqis who were accidentally killed by US snipers.

Definitely wouldn't go as far as Michael Moore in his scathing critique of the film on twitter (which definitely was hurtful and offensive to the widow of the Sniper this movie was based on) but I would find it very upsetting and uncomfortable to watch. I find most movies I've seen disturbing anyway, aside from All Quiet on the Western Front, a timeless classic.

Well, you know what you're going to get as there has been no hiding from it.

If you find most movies disturbing, then movies may not be for you. :) Steer clear..................although you're not missing much here at all.

Oddly enough, I love movies with extreme violence and horror (fan of Saw, Hostel, Human Centipede etc)

Its just war movies, especially ones based on emotive political events, with high civilian death causalities (like Platoon) that I find off putting.

Not sure if movies like American Sniper are going to help try bridge the gap between the US/Western World and the Middle East either.
