Definitely no surprise for it sweeping the awards.
I have a job that makes me pretty desensitized to shit where I shouldn't be, but this game made me feel things and it made me care about these make-believe characters, their plights, and what happened to them.

That's the highest respect I can give a video game, really.

Act 1 for me is the best game I've ever played
Act 2 I got confused but I enjoyed it. On the whole amazing game
Act 3 has lost me. I don't know where to go, who to talk to, what quests to do. I've done some parts of the circus and haven't played for a couple of weeks.

I actually want to make a new character and play act 1 again

Act 2 was my favourite, loved the setting of the Moonrise towers, the Harpers vs the Absolute cult, the twisted hospital, the grotesque pub, the fight vs Kethric, the Sharran temple culminating in the hunt for the nightsong. The party really seemed out of it's depth for the first time and had to rise to the challenge.

Okay you lot, I’m on Xbox and just purchased this, better be good 😀

XBox here too, and I also purchased today 😀

Got a few other games to clear out first (AC: Mirage and AW2) before I devote time to this.

Was able to sneak in about an hour and a half last night, and yes I really don’t know what’s going on haha but getting use to the controls and have to say the combat which I was most worried about isn’t too bad, quite enjoy it and never been into turn based.

Half hour probably means you're still on the Nautilous? Which for me was so ****ing confusing. Once you get past that bit, or don't get past it, the game makes a touch more sense lol

There is a huge learning curve but don't let that be a barrier, it's normal for everyone. I think it took me at least until halfway through act 2, maybe more, to truly understand the freedom. The entire first act was just getting my head around the basics of what each member was capable of, what every ability and spell does etc. It wasn't until later on did I start thinking outside the box at times and then eventually once I had my head around everything I worked out things like exploiting extra moves and stuff. When I eventually get around to another character I reckon I'll steamroll the first two acts.

Act 3

Killed Minsc because I couldn't figure out how to knock him out and accidently killed him with magic. Couldn't save the Gondians. Jaheira died. Man I suck at keeping people alive, or this game is extremely hard to keep alive.

Volo died but I was able to re-load and save him.

Also managed to get Duke Ravengard out of that underwater prison. So not all bad.

Does anybody else need to constantly reload old saves because shit just happens in this game? I reckon I played for 5 hours yesterday and had to reload about 25 times.

Had an epic combat battle against 5 enemies and just came out on top, was like a game of chess, still very raw with this style of gameplay and working around what works and what doesn’t etc in regards to attacks and defence, have been overwhelmed a few times and in one battle had to load a save just before the battle commenced as I couldn’t win the fight.

A hell of a lot to learn but each time I fire it up I’m getting better, I’m glad I’ve jumped into this and had a crack, can definitely see why so many people love it.

Keen to hear your progress as you play :)

Yes, best one was when I accidentally walked into the thieves guild through the underground kitchen entrance and they wrecked me.

There needs to be a quicksave button mapped for console.

But (assuming you’re on ps5) you can just hit pause and triangle whenever you like?

I did that at the start of most hectic looking battles.

Same - it was the biggest video game learning curve I've probably ever had, even more so than when I first dived into the Sousbourne genre. I've never, ever done anything turn-based, and I've never played any kind of D&D.

But the game is just that good that it brings you along for the ride. I member the devs saying the entirety of Act I was the tutorial and, frankly, they weren't wrong.

It was eye-opening in the best of ways. Honestly, with this, FromSoftware, Remedy, Nintendo Nintendo-ing, it really is a heck of a time to be alive. We are genuinely spoiled
