Re: Ballarat Football League

Darley had the toughest draw this year (playing every team in the top 6 twice). Is it based on a rotation system?

But Ballarat had the softest draw last year? How can you get 2 of the best draws in a row? If they had Darley's draw last they would not have played finals.

Re: Ballarat Football League

I know next to nothing about the ex-Riddell boys but yes I wouldn't think that pouching from a side in a weaker competition could be called textbook recruiting. Ultimately the proof in in the pudding and we'll know more by the end of September

a weaker league perhaps.. but these guys all played in a premiership side and were guns all year.. i wouldnt be underestimatign them just yet.
no to mention the rumours of the name jose being whispered heading over to sunbury.
if this is the case.. look out bfl ruckmen/

Re: Ballarat Football League

I think some are being a bit dramatic on the draw. If you are good enough you should be able to beat any side and as has been shown from the last few years, finishing top 2 is no advantage. We should be concerned about the top 6 returning to a 5 so it is an advantage to finish top but we know the league needs the money for the extra final.

The draw is obviously a huge stuff up, or are you happy to let one team have 3 byes or a definate 12pts whilst others get 8pts, along with an extra game in the split round to gain another extra possible 4pts and percentage. i think it is back to the drawing board....

Whats happened to Powers theory of playing the local kids next year ?

Re: Ballarat Football League

With the draft draw out now it will be interesting to see if the BFL take on any objections from clubs. In the past they do not like to make any changes.

Re: Ballarat Football League

Can anyone confirm for KA from south that Matty sutton was at training? The you can leave the forum my friend.

Re: Ballarat Football League

Darley kicked off pre-season training on monday night, with a good 50 players there and more players to come. New recruits include Brett Drylen, Brad Coy and a couple of boys from Werribee centrals.

Did have a good 50 players with almost half of them new faces which is a great sign for the club. Brent Dryden is the signed marquee recruit at the moment but have also had 3 more high quality potential players training during the pre-season (talls). Needless to say the devils will be a stronger outfit with greater depth next season.

Drydens good but i wouldnt put him in the marquee category.

For example.....I know you boys didnt see the best of him but Matty Fitz runs rings around Dryden

We seen enough of Fitzy to realise he was one of the best in the BFL, don't think we are expecting that of Dryden.
