We'll agree to disagree then, was he voted into the position by the Committee?

What makes any particular Chairman let alone Olsen any different.

I've served on several committee's and all the Chair can do is lead, doesn't mean the committee has to follow on everything the Chair wants..
Chairman/President would have a fair bit of influence in a place like a footy club, if Olsen thought Nicks re-appointment was a bad idea it wouldn’t happen.

Can you imagine Collingwood extending a coaches contract without Eddie’s backing?

One person complains, I ask you why, what’s he done wrong? I also point out a couple of good things he’s done. No speech involved, pretty short and reasonable responses actually.

The one person who complains I know is politically motivated. Asking my questions highlights that.

You’ve just written a long post, is that also a speech, does that make you politically motivated or not? You say your post isn’t politically motivated, clear to say if you’re left or right leaning?

Again, you're harping on the political side of things. Does my post sound political to you?
Keep in mind, I was a toddler when Oslen first became premier.
If i'm a leftie, does that automatically mean that I have an insurmountable bias against Olsen in your mind?

All of my politcial observations in this discussion have been in direct response to yours. Jars is not the only person you've accused of political bias in the past

I’ve criticised Olsen. I’ve acknowledge some good work he’s done. You and others have discounted it. Obstacles? You raised them and now say you don’t know, you weren’t a fly on the wall.

It’s silly because he’s actually achieved them. You’re throwing up a hypothetical that someone else could have, why? For what purpose than to talk down what he’s done.

lol I'm not discounting them at all, I'm just not acting like his achievements are worth some special praise.

I rarely post much about Olsen, be it good or bad so it's not as if im constantly criticising him either.

As for meh, you don’t think that accurately describes your assessment of the job he’s done?

tbh I thought you were saying that i would think Balme would be meh. I see what you meant now, so i take that back.

It would be another positive but are far does it move the needle?

Exactly.

Would he want to put his name on a key decision like coach that he didn't want...

So you’ve backed away from saying I claimed he did a great job and the board should give him a reach around, making progress.

What I’ve asked from the beginning is why he should be punted and I’ve pointed out some of the good stuff he’s done, which has been either ignored or discounted. I’ve also pointed out a major **** up.

What? where did my imply that?

Apart from obviously being hyperbolic, No I haven't backed away from that, because it's true and not just because of today's comments. I think you often give him too much credit.

I've never said he should be punted, I said from the beginning he has been fine. Although at his age, I expect he'll step down after we get rid of Roo anyway.

Exactly.

Would he want to put his name on a key decision like coach that he didn't want...
Your point?

Of course Olsen signed off on Nicks appointment and re-appointment as would have the committee, unanimous or not.

So another left leaning poster finding it very difficult to acknowledge any good work Olsen may have done, no worries, just a coincidence

lol I think obsession with this has made you paranoid.

Just maybe it's the righties who are incapable of not making excuses for Olsen's performance?

Your point?

Doubt he would have signed off if unhappy with the decision.

That was the point you clearly missed.

I’ve actually criticised him though. I’m not the one talking down finally getting us a new home or seamlessly getting rid of Roo.

Obsessed? Lol, you jumped in mate when you saw Olsen being discussed, would you have preferred I ignored you?

lol he does get credit for doing a reasonable (but not great) job, but you act like the whole board owes him a reach around.

Were none of the obstacles faced on the new HQ avoidable?

This is not the first time you've accused others of bringing in a political bias, but perhaps it's you should look inward as well.

It’s actually pretty easy to get decisions right at AFL board level, any major screw up is one too many. Nicks’ 2 year extension is one of those, nobody on the board should survive it. Outside of that, what he’s been involved I’d say he’s been decent.

Sorry maybe I was unclear.

Your obsession is the political bias issue, not Olsen himself

I mostly agree, you must be raging leftie.

Which simply says, people these days cannot have proper civil debates .....no-one is open-minded ....no-one adopts critical thinking ...it's all biased thinking, and every post dismisses any POV, no matter how meritorious the argument, if it doesn't align with their imbedded thinking

Most posters who put up a detailed response to an argument, with facts ....are met with a one line strawman argument

You do know that you just described yourself.

Wow. Goodings stands out, doesn't he?

I even remember being told by Sanders after raising concerns about the fact that Olsen presided over some really bad deals that were heavily weighted to the SANFL not to stress because that's how he operates and he'll now be doing deals like that in our favour.

Then came the $9 million handout to the SANFL for Thebarton while also giving them our lease to Footy Park for free. Yep good old Johnny is definitely scewing over the SANFL to our advantage.

He's not lived up to the hype and some of the defence of him to me is right up there with people defending Nicks.

I’ll never understand what’s so difficult to understand that we didn’t have any other option but to buy the SANFL out of their lease. They held the whip hand. If we had a viable second option then we could have negotiated lower buyout. But reality is that Thebarton was the only option anywhere near the city, we were never going to be successful on any other tender for land that could be used for high density housing.

Remember relapse previously said it wasn’t up to him to name alternative sites when bagging the Thebby option
