It’s been raining and storming up here for the last week. We’ve been hammered the last week. At this stage rain predicted most of the week but only overcast over the weekend.
This just made me look at the Brisbane page on BOM and you've had 66mm of rain today?? My Adelaide brain can't fathom that!! Good things the Lions got the week off.

Was busy when the game started, and I didn't think the Crows would win, so I was very surprised to see the score at half time. After reading the posts here, I had to re-check, because the doom and gloom made me think it was the Crows with only 4 points!

Watched the second half, and thought it was one of the better games I've seen the girls play. Well deserved win. I hope they can recover well enough to give Brisbane a run for their money next week. 🤞

Pretty much the game that was expected. I thought Freo would keep it tight until half time, turns out they could only manage it until quarter time.

I think Gould, Ponter, Randall, Munyard and Ballard works as a forward line. Martin with a decent game today.

Now to travel to Brisbane next week! I think we're a sneaky chance over there, as much as Brisbane will rightly be the favourites going in.

Strom ended up just pipping Allan in the end (34 hitouts and 13 touches, to 30 hitouts and 10 touches) but that's still a damn good performance from Allan.

Marinoff with another Marinoff performance, 32 touches, 12 tackles, 8 clearances and a goal. Her, Newman and Randall the clear best three players on the ground.

Freo will come back stronger next year with Bowers back, Stannett back, Tighe back. That's their 3 best players right there (excluding Strom).

Crows won as expected. Martin played her best game. I was wrong about her. Just needs to be consistent. Ballard was excellent. Randall is shoulders above everyone in effort. When they are down, she is always the one to stand up. Biddell was incredible down back. Can't believe Gould kicked it into the woman on the mark. Munyard and Newman were great. Lots of players stood up strong today. Thought Jess Allan was phenomenal in the ruck and kept up with her all game. Noffy had her usual Noffy game, which is pretty much BOG.

Brisbane are always favourite against the Crows; their home ground, week off, they have the wood against us. But, I bet Brisbane will come out to the media this week claiming they are the underdogs. Crows are going to have to play their best game to be able to beat Brisbane.

We normally get crucified by the umpires up here. But then that’s true everywhere. We’ve seen two heartbreaking losses up here the last two times we’ve played them. It’d be enormous for us to turn that around.

We got the job done in difficult conditions - though it wasn’t as stifling as I expected it to be.

Of course, if they played the game any other time this weekend the conditions would’ve been great for finals footy.

Now watch the AFL question why our crowd was so low

Thought there were some positives from some individuals who needed to step up to support the usual Marinoff & Randall two-woman show that’s been relied on lately. Another positive was obviously the defensive group who looked back to their early season best & the clean transition from halfback that was seen in the first half of last week’s game was carried over to this game.

I thought Newman was best on ground, was everywhere early, the main difference in her game this week compared to previous games; 21 kicks and only 3 handballs! So much more damaging when she uses those foot skills.

Jess Allan set the tone with her start to the game to quell Strom who must be said started the game like she’d been reading her own press all week, it may seem overly critical as she was so important today but do hope we start getting full 4 quarter performance from J.Allan in the future as she is still partial to a 2nd half fade-out.

Also handy for Martin to have her 1 semi-decent performance for the month her along with Levy & Ballard’s cameos at various stages were vital especially in the first half when it was obvious Ponter & Gould were playing like they were given a sedative before the game.

Still have zero faith next week as not only has Brisbane had the week off compared to playing in that weather today+no travel and on-field the obvious issues with the Crows midfield being vulnerable to speed on ball and quick hands out of the contest was there again today, not to mention the constant poor ball handling errors which were made under slight to little pressure which will only be exacerbated against a more higher quality opposition providing much more of it.

2022 season B; lose qualifying final > easily win semi at home > lose away prelim

2023; lose qualifying final > easily win semi at home > lose away prelim

2024; lose qualifying final > easily win semi at home > ???
