Happy with his comments sorry for the Staker hit he has to live with that and to be honest about he shouldn't have played 05 hats off we have all thought it. Didn't think much of him before that great player but has matured into a decent bloke.

Proves that Dimitriou let him off.

Was a thug in his time as a footballer which I think he acknowledges, but he seems to have matured into a decent human being off it.

There's nothing he can do about the Staker hit now so to judge him for the rest of his life on what he did as a player holds him to an unattainable standard. I wish him all the best.

Also if anyone hasn't seen his appearance on Insight, you should (I think it's on Youtube somewhere). It was really interesting to hear him open up on what it's like going from a big name footy player to a retired footy player with no marketable skills, and be very honest in his self-appraisal.

Nothing quite so adorable as posters feeling the need to state that a thread isn't needed.
Silence speaks for itself and if it doesn't then maybe just let it go.

OTT: I don't know what more the man can do. His self-awareness / loathing seems genuine. I never hated him. Would love a Barry hall in our team, then or now.

You mean he now has a job where he needs to come across as a decent bloke so hams it up like the rest of the media Muppets.

yepp hypocrite! won't let that bullshit go that had nothing to do with performance or breaking the rules. Yet he expects us all to forget his past which was! He goes all Mr meek and mild as soft as the bog rolls adverts he does when it's to suck up to the establishment. Cried like a big baby when our Troy Wilson fairly challenged him. Total coward! Why should he not be remembered as the gutless moron thug who yes kicked a ton of goals, but should have been banned from GF? That was his life on the football field and what these fame halls are supposed to trophy. He can make it in there cause now he's a nice guy off the field, but not while he was on it. Yet Benny or Abblett snr who were the opposite never will?

Whilst playing in a reserves game for St Kilda against North Melbourne in Round 14 1997, Hall struck Sam McFarlane, a slightly built wingman, in the jaw, breaking it in three places. McFarlane spent the next three days in hospital getting the jaw wired back together and was sidelined for ten weeks. Although McFarlane returned for the final two games of the year, he never returned to play league football again.

In the 1998 second semi-final St Kilda held the lead over Melbourne near the end of the second quarter. After being tackled by Steven Febey, Hall dropped his knees into Febey's head and after regaining his feet he slung Adem Yze to the ground. In frustration his outburst lead to an altercation with teammates Matthew Lappin and Shane Wakelin where Hall had to be restrained by his teammates and trainers.

After an incident involving a punch to the stomach of St Kilda's Matt Maguire in a 2005 preliminary final match, Hall was reported for a level two striking and offered a one-week suspension for a guilty plea. This suspension would have meant missing the next week's grand final. Hall's representation successfully argued that the incident was 'in play' despite the ball being 50 metres away.

Hall was handed a one match suspension for an attempted strike on Collingwood's Shane Wakelin. Sydney later announced the team would not play Hall indefinitely.Sydney co-captain Brett Kirk later claimed that Hall's habit of hitting opposition players off the ball is a "bad habit".

Such a champion, such a nice bloke, deserved AFL legend!

If you want absolution and have sins past and present washed away, go to Sydney. The club is like Teflon when it comes to players being questioned or having dishonourable deeds glossed over
