Can't help but think that if the AFL had have acted appropriately and rubbed Barry out of a Grand Final when he hit Maguire behind play then Barry might have been able to learn the difference between right and wrong. Poor Barry, just a pawn in the AFL's determination to make Sydney successful.

If Carl Williams played for Sydney and the AFL were the Supreme Court- Carl would be a free man. ;)

BS Bollox, this is not a troll. You don't think something like missing a grand final would force someone to reassess the way they go about things. What you don't punish and nip in the bud will just continue to grow. Look at Cousins at WC, Carey at North... the list goes on. I think Barry has been let down by those who refused to punish him.

be good if it was any other swans player who hit staker, then the barry hall haters could shut up.

You have got this all wrong, I do not hate Barry. I DID like him in fact. I am spewing I have to trade him out of my supercoach team!

Just discusssing the reasons as to why he has never really changed.

So reading through all the threads on here today, I've come up with a summary of who's fault it was.
1. West Coast
2. The Umpires
3. The AFL
4. Kevin Bartlett
5. ANZ Stadium

Bloody hell all these groups have it in for poor Bazza.
Just a misunderstood boy, I guess

Actually - i agree with the OP. The decision to let Hall play in that GF was one of the most discgraceful in history and it is so tempting to assume it had something to do with gving the Swans a leg up. Many players have missed GF's through stupid actions in lead up games and clearly Hall should be among them. I imagine their outlook was changed by the experience.

What I saw last night was one of the worst incident ever caught on video - dunno how many weeks he will get but his already shabby reputation is totally stuffed now. The bloke wasn't even looking - very weak

I think there is a degree of validity to the OP conjecture.

As I stated in another thread:

In week one, Hall belted Gram behind play. There was no provocation. The AFL darling got off scot free as usual. The AFL match review panel need to lift their act and maybe players (even highly protected species like Hall) will have to think twice when sniping behind play.

That said, the very best forwards do seem to cop an enormous amount of niggle every match. The more a player reacts to it - the more he cops in the ensuing weeks so they are forced not to react - just stand their ground. The umpires do not protect these players enough from what would essentially be a free kick anywhere, anytime, elsewise - they are frightened to - because it takes some bravery to do so - and face possible accusations of having an influence on the result of the game.

I think everyone has forgot Staker was the main instigator - he was the one who basically forced Bazza to try and knock him out. Can't see how AFL can get a Swannie out of this charge - you might find all footage of this incident may disappear before the trial.....

:eek::DYou are a tool mate.
Hall should get 10 to 12 weeks as it is not a boxing match.

Staker will probably get 6 weeks for head-butting Barry Hall's fist.

It's a real shame, because apparently Hall broke his wrist punching signage on one of the boundary fences and will be out for about 8 weeks anyway.

He probably did it on purpose so that when people ask him how he is enjoying his suspension he can reply:
"Suspension? What are you talking about? I'm injured, not suspended".

If anyone other than Barry Hall is to blame for this then surely it's St. Kilda:p

Plugger
Hall
Everitt
Gehrig
Baker

They're practically a thug production line, unfortunately their players keep ending up at the swans:(.

But which other Swans player would do that? If someone said a swans player king hit someone, I think nearly everyone's first guess would have been Barry Hall. In fact there are very few others in the league that people might have thought would do that. Even jeffrey wouldn't, there are no women on the field

Yep .
They let him and Goodes , Harris and many others get off and suddenly this type of player thinks they are " untouchable " and now Staker , his team and the Sydney team and the AFL have to suffer because of what Hall did .
As i have said before Hall should start serving his penalty for striking Staker AFTER Hall is free from injury , that way Hall understands the pain he has caused Staker and all concerned .

If he got paid a free now and then, he wouldnt have had so much built up frustration, it was only time!

Goodes and Hall both have laughed at the tribunal system in the past and yes the AFLs craptastic lack of spine has contributed to this blight on the game. They have no one to blame but themselves, they bang on about bringing the game into disrepute, but let these 2 (Hall & Goodes)and other selected individuals such as the eye scratcher (Judd) and the squirrel gripper (Harvey) to get away with things that bring the game into disrepute just as much as say a late night fight or drink driving charge. Suck it up Demetriou you jellyfished backed waste of space, do you think mums at home watching that will be racing off to sign little Johny up to Auskick? Just waiting for Roos to start his usual excuse making now.

You serious .The incident was in the first quarter .
Hall is supposed to be professional.
Hall has been given soft deals by the MRP and this is the end result.
The umps do their job and book the players if they see things and the MRP let them off , go figure who is at fault .
Its the fault of the AFL commission for allowing the MRP to give soft penalties or no penalties.
Sack the MRP people and put credible people in there place.:thumbsu:
