Might get back into this in the next few days (again). I've done almost everything I can in GT5 for the time being.

Yes!

870 combat shotgun is tooooo much fun.

Landed a tasty Ace pin on Atacama desert last night, a map I usually don't like due to the heavy emphasis on tanks, choppers and sniping. Ended with a nice 29 kills 18 deaths for 3250 odd points (assault 3090 vehicle 160) with an assault class shotgun c4 combo.

Some highlights included; shotgun sniping a sniper from the ledge at charlie to the bridge of the ship at bravo. Shotgun sniping a full throttle quad bike guy from the bridge of the ship at bravo to the base of the hill at alpha. Shotgun sniping at guy using vads/aa in the back of deployment from the entrance of deployment from front on while he was trying to shoot me (smaller than head size to aim at)!

What make it really rewarding is the way you've got to map out your routes from one waypoint to the next. Flanking is now a fine art and strategically getting close enough to a tank to get 2 c4's onto it is extremely satisifying but also a major source of deaths.

Also discovered that a c4 placed on the barrel of an enemy tank will self detonate when the enemy fires a shell!

Yeah some of you more experience guys may have done this stuff before but this is game within a game groundbreaking stuff for me. :)

Yeah 870 is awesome. Just started using it properly, it takes a bitof getting used to. Do you use shotgun upgrade and magnum ammo? I reckon that's the best combo. I used to hate it but now 50 metre head shots are a common occurence!

Laguna Presa is an awesome map for the 870. Went 33-20 and 30-16 (ish) last night. Usually with the shotty I'm lucky to get more than 20 kills but yeah as I said it takes a bit of gtting used to.

Also using shotty with engineer class is pretty good, cause you still get the RPG/Gustav (or in Biggie's case the AT whatever lol).

Yeah, slugs and magnum are a given. 50m should be a torso one shot kill. 150+m marksman bonus is where the real LoLs are at.

Recon would be sweet to, for the motion balls/mortar strike combo!

Aren't shotguns supposed to be like, close range weapons?
Sure are.

Pretty ridiculous when you get shotgun sniped from 50mts + away.

Hope that is somewhat reduced in Battlefield 3.

Yeah, I've got no problems with their close range power, but if you can take people out 50m's+ away then it kinda makes assaults rifles and sub machine guns obsolete.

Not really. Unless it's a headshot then it's 2 or 3 shots to kill. Assault or SMG have plenty of time to react.

That's what slug is for. Still has to be a pretty good shot to get a head shot from distance with a shottie

Yes and no...

A 12 gauge (18.3mm) slug is wider and heavier than a .50 cal sniper round (12.7mm) which is lethal to 1000m+.

The only problem in game is the insane accuracy afforded to shotguns at range... You cannot put any optics on the weapon and left trigger does not even bring the weapons iron sights up, only tightening the targeting reticule to a small + on screen.

It should be harder than what it is, but the in game fun factor is extreme!

This is pretty much the same as the shots I made on Atacama desert except reversed.

Some more shot gun snipes.

Yes, when you're using standard buckshot that spreads the pellets after leaving the barrel.

If you equip the shotgun upgrade it changes the buckshot to a slug which is basically one big bullet so you lose the spread but gain range. You can then add to this magnum ammo upgrade with makes that one big bullet bigger and heavier.

At range this behaves like the bolt action sniper rifles. Anything other than the head is hitmarkers but no kill to an enemy at 100% health.

The only real problem as I mention before is that they are too accurate, but then again if somebody is sitting still long enough for me to line up a headshot with a shotgun then any other weapon in game would have got the kill also....

Half the time your aiming at the base of the super realistic glowing red triangle witches hat that all soldiers are required to wear on the battlefield on the UN's recommendations...;)

Premature ejaculation. This does not work.

Wait, I'm sure a friendlys rpg or well placed grenade can denote a C-4 charge, no?

It must have been this.... C4 was placed on tank, I later died. 30 seconds into the next life without placing any additional c4 anywhere I randomly get +30 damage vehicle, +100 vehicle destroyed, +50 enemy killed.... Had to have been a teammates RPG or other explosive.

Attention Xbox guys!

Am planning a big session next Thursday (24th) night. The wife is interstate for work so at 8pm once the kids are tucked in it's either surf the interporn or play BC2.

One of these I can share with mates for 6 hours, the other would be a bit awkward and would be lucky to handle 15 minutes!!!

Maybe we can piss some people off with a team of 12 shotgun users. :D See you guys online. ;)
