Went to the game tonight.

Renegades proved they are the world champions of dumb cricket. Congratulations 👏 👏

To allow Maxwell to milk the strike with singles at the end of the over (pretty much most overs) with zero pressure is laughable. Is this team actually serious?

I thought some of the field placings were not great.

Then with the bat - surely the job of Harris was just to rotate the strike and keep things ticking over. As opposed to trying to play the hero shot.

Our first 4 overs with the bat of most matches is pathetic. Can't even go at a run a ball with 2 fielders out. heck the Stars face us half the early runs through extras. In four overs there was barely 1 good cricket shot.

And another horrible power surge with the ball and bat. Took it maybe an over too late today but the real problem was the execution - horrific .

It was stupid by Harris, but I think in part that shot of his came from Brown looking lost & not being able to time the ball

Probably felt a bit of pressure to try and get the scoring going with his teammate struggling - right idea but not smartly played

And as for Maxwell - it become clear pretty quickly he was going to farm the strike for the first 4/5 balls each over. Would have loved to see Sutherland bring the field in come that stage, even for an over or two, just to see if Maxwell would try for a big shot or hit a gap for a single

I think there's some things Sutherland has done well as captain, but also feel like he's been found out a few times this season, and I mentioned it during the game but not sure which teammate he can turn to during the innings to run things past. I know he talks to Richardson a bit, but not sure if that's more bowling based rather than general tactics/ideas

Could be good to look to bring/trade in an experienced player this coming off-season to fill what is now an obvious gap following last seasons retirements of Finch & Marsh - it wouldn't be about taking the captaincy off Sutherland, but someone he can lean on at times during the innings, especially when fielding

At the 10 over break they would have discussed tactics.

Surely you learn brining the field up at some point in your cricket journey.

But I do agree they need a veteran presence.

They also need a stronger batting line up. Siefert is the only genuine class batsman. He is coming in to late. It's a bit of a shit show at the moment.
Not sure Bumrah would've stopped Maxwell tonight he was in the zone.

Even more reason to get him off strike.

Mir was involved in a record 8th wicket BBL partnership....lol.

Maxwell said he didn't want to risk 2s on the slow outfield didn't want to risk exposing Osama for 4 balls an over (don't blame him).

Sacking jfm would be a start. Brown also is not worth what they are paying him.

Wells was a costly injury he's the kind of cricket brain that can build an innings that they need

Lack of maturity from our top order
Brown was signed to be an explosive opener - 4 off 7 isn't a great return & he couldn't time anything. I'd take a quick fire 20 off the first couple of overs before getting out as at least that puts some pressure on the opposition

With Brown struggling to find the middle of the bat, Harris looked to try and find the boundary, but that's really not his go; he tried forcing the issue

Bethell with 1 from 8 never got going, and looked like he was playing his first game

JFM seemed to give himself a chance to get in tonight but then tried playing a shot to the hardest part of the ground to clear the rope. His best innings here was last season, batting at 3 and he scored 70 off 37 and simply played good cricket shots

Right now he looks out of form and just not giving himself a chance

This was the wagon wheel from his 70 run innings

That has to be fake

In what universe did JFM score more than 20 runs in an innings

I don't get why we played with the batting line up as much as we did tonight

I understand against Perth why we made slight changes - Harris was clearly in to open, JFM needed to drop down the order and with Brown out it made sense to bring Seifert up to open

What I would have liked to do tonight was Brown return to open, Seifert back to 3, Bethell stays at 4 with Sutherland moving up to 5 and JFM down the order

Not sure why Seifert has gone from batting at 3, to opener to 5 tonight - he's looked solid when coming in to the order, so which we stuck with that
