Won’t happen, no way gold coast accepts 11 for May. If Melbourne can’t get May they won’t trade Hogan and so on and so forth.

I’d swap our 5 for the Suns 11 + 24/29 if that would be the final circuit breaker. We still do pretty well there.

It was a very weak draft. With the players drafted around 5 and 25 (Greenwood wasnt interested in coming to us) I wouldn't have backed us in to develop them or keep them. Also as has been said a million times Crisp wasn't interested in staying and had little value at the trade table.
Your dealing in hypotheticals. Point is that is who they drafted, and traded in with the bounty we gave them. I am not going to argue with you over what ifs and such. Facts are we gave 5, a 2nd ( greenwood) and crisp and it has been a very big win for the pies, regardless of whether you believe that or not. I am not here to change your view. Just offering my opinion

Gee trade radio are pumping there live vision coverage tomorrow night of the last couple of hours.

Conspiracy theory- I wouldn't be overly surprised if the big deals ie. Hogan, Beams, Neale, May, Shiel have all been tentatively agreed on but the AFL has told them to hold off the official trade paperwork till the live TV coverage.

Doesn't mean it wasn't a win for us and of course we're dealing in hypotheticals.

I doubt it. If a big multi-party deal had been agreed, I can’t see why all sides involved wouldn’t want to finalise the deal and consider any other options left open to them in trade period.

AFL is the new WWE.

Hypotheticals or opinions? Mine is opinion, yours is hypothetical when talking about what might have been. I have an opinion on what actually transpired and believe it was huge overs in the pies favour.

As I said in so many words in my first post what beams gave us in coming to our club was great and you can't ignore it, however with hindsight and our current situation (beams wanting out) I believe that this is a huge win and has been a huge win for the pies. Here is a hypothetical for if beams remained at our club until he retired you could certainly make the argument it was a win win. This situation changes that imo.

I tend to think they just safely assumed Clubs would muck around and posture up until the last day like they do every year.

All I know is that at the time this board was ecstatic to pick up Beams. You can't ignore how shit we were and how huge it was to have an A grader in his prime leave Collingwood to play for us. Like Judd going to Carlton. West Coast were always going to be better off in the long run but we had to make it happen and we probably had a fair idea of how shit the draft was as did Collingwood which was why they spent 25 on someone like Greenwood.
