Beams does a Presti

Beams should be lauded if true. The ultimate act of sacrifice for a player who being in anothe rpremiership winning side would be everything. The selection committee should be roasted, for allowing him to play in the prelim with it. If we lost and this came out I doubt the reaction would've been so mild.

Come on Zahki, he's not the first or the last player to be selected with an injury in a final. Obviously they didn't think it was as bad as it was or that it would deteriorate.

Kudos to Beamsy for his honesty, hopefully he can have an injury-free season next year.

Beams has a mysterious groin injury that he got no work on during the game last week or at training... yet he misses and jolly / reid who had much bigger issues play? Add in the fact beams has a history of grand final choking... Come on guys wake up, he got dropped but they just said "groin strain" so it didnt look bad. Seriouslly guys its not the best to hear but lets be realistic???

So you are saying Malthouse lied?

...rofl yes of course i am? u saying malthouse has never lied before? Collingwood has a history of lying about injuries.. Buckley's hammy comes to mind? but its not the only one. Oh and remember malthouse lying about what he said to milne? srsly dude think

I'd be amazed if he went to this length to lie about an injury, all he would have needed to say was that he was injured and people would be satisfied enough. Plus it fits in with the rumour that he was carrying a groin injury through the latter end of the season.

When were we lied to about this? I always thought it was common knowledge every time he tweaked it in 07 and the same in the Prelim of that year!

So you're saying Luke Ball is on the charade as well blaze? Yes, Luke Ball, who is integrity personified mate. Why not pull your head in and admit you've got this wrong?

There is no way the club would disrespect Beams by saying he did a Presti if he wasn't actually injured. It would be a great way of pissing off a future gun player.

Sounds a bit like the St Kilda retirements of Baker and Eddy that were categorically rebuked by the players. It wouldn't be a good look if that were the case!

I hope Maggie fans don't mind an outside opinion, but from an unbiased point of view, I tend to agree with this post. Just too many coincidences for my liking considering there was no talk of Beams moving poorly during the prelim or early in the week when there were calls to drop him. That with the fact Jolly will now play even though he's walking like a new born giraffe

He'd feel a lot better being dropped for an injury than being dropped for not being good enough?? As for Ball if the club tells him to say something of course his gonna say it.

Its a great cinderella story but think about it logically. Reid and Jolly play with groin injuries and get work done last game, yet beams has no work done during the game so unless its magically happened early this week or its not even an issue his been dropped due to form and he chokes in grand finals.

Hmm, so now Luke Ball, Nathan Buckley, Mick Malthouse, Michael Christian and Christi Malthouse are all liars (all the Collingwood aligned people who have said Beams is injured).

Ok.

Beams was injured, why else couldn't he run last week, he is a good player, but have no possessions at all for 2 whole quarters in a final means one thing, HE HAD A GROIN INJURY.

Anyone who disputes that really doesn't know anything about football.

He wasn't subbed earlier because we also had Reid and later on Jolly in distress, and if you make the sub too early, and then another play goes down, YOU LOSE.

He had an injury, he had scans after the match, he then tried to train through it, and couldn't, and then went into Mick's office and told him he couldn't go, THAT IS FACT.

All those people represent Collingwood, and they all say the same thing...
He played a shit game just like he did in both grand finals last year your so guilable. He was subbed off instead of reid and jolly because they were both playing decently and it was a MUST WIN so they took off the worst player - Beams (the worst replaceable player).

We all love collingwood, but u can take what they say about things such as injuries for a grain of salt. Get ur head outa the sand and look at common sense. Jolly and Reid both have groin injuries too... wonder why there playing but he isn't? despite getting no strapping or work done in the hawthorn game when he was subbed off or before hand.. for **** sake

Go ask any person with half a brain who understands football and doesn't barrack for collingwood about this. Its so obvious he was dropped for form and he has a history of choking in big matches.

I'm not even going to argue, Dayne Beams is injured, I know this, I will not divulge how I know it, but I do know it.

If you say other wise fine, it's your opinion, I shouldn't have stated it is a fact, even though I know it is.

Good night, I won't respond to any more negative shit about our club, we aren't lying, he has an injury, and he stepped up and admitted it, in a brave and selfless manner for which he should be congratulated.:):thumbsu:

We are in a Grand Final, how about believing in the club, and supporting them, rather then talking shit about every single person who works for the club, because they are all going to say the same, from now till eternity.:)

Exactly.

Pretty insulting to Beams and the club any supporters who question the truth of this decision.

I rate Beams very highly as a player, have had my doubts on him as a person. However this has assured me we have a special talent and person at the club.

For a 20/21 year old to make this call shows maturity and leadership, kudos to the club as well for instilling this amongst the group.

Love ya Beamsy.

Come on now Milky why don't you tell us what you really feel?

Pick 30 and a guy that would never play a single game for Collingwood would be good for the lulz, but nothing else!

Clearly blaise, you've made up your mind about your conspiracy theory, and no evidence to the contrary is going to be believed by you.

I believe people like Luke Ball would not say it, if it weren't true. Bally has integrity, and if the club suggested he spin a line, he would simply remain silent, rather than compund the lie.

It takes a big man to admit maybe they've misjudged (particularly with so much overwhelming evidence), to have faith in the club we love, instead of carrying on like oppo supporters and trolls in this thread.

"ruled out of Saturday's Grand Final against Geelong, owing to groin soreness"

So... let me get this straight... Beams injury is "groin soreness" that makes him miss a grand final... however Reid and Jolly will PLAY with more severe groin injuries? LOLokay.
