The kid is sensational at what he does and is as strong as a donkey, but am I the only one that sees untapped midfield potential in him?
Robbing Peter to pay sure, but the kid is hostile, has toe, kicks like a ******* seahorse and is stronger than most over the ball. Spatial awareness the only issue? I dunno, but I see scope in McCreery that runs well beyond a good pressure forward.
Would love to see him chasing c*nts down and linking up, kicking into 50 on the regular, has all the traits to be a very damaging midfielder IMO.
Not sure about that. Weightlifting clubs would but footy clubs wouldn't.
Long distance runs favour the gazelles, strength work favours the buffalos. no weight divisions within the club.
It's up to the sports science team to collate this data for each individual to determine where they're at for their age/size etc...
Strength would be tested against standard movements, not sure what they'd be at the club. Powerlifters test the back-squat, deadlift, and bench.
Bloody Ginni ducking again while McCreery takes it head onCan we make this the thread photo?View attachment 1424997
Fair enough call although I’m not sure you can be so quick to judge a players ball winning capabilities when they’re playing small forward in starvation corner.I think McCreery has all the playing qualities to be a midfielder except that kind of critical one winning the footy. McCreery doesn't position himself well for this. I think if we use him in midfield it should be as a tagger. The blokes a wrecking ball and would make his opponents day a misery. I'd use him as a contingency for when there's an opposition player off the leash who needs reining in.
Takes many elements to become a strong successful team, Beau has traits that are important electric pace, desire for the contest and a will to compete.
Coming more to the fore, valuable commodity

He's going to be a two way weapon when he gets his confidence up. I don't think he knows how good he is yet. At the moment he's always looking to block for others, but once he learns to peel off to receive more often and use his pace and power to break the lines, he'll be really damaging. He's got a pretty similar skillset to Jordy.I think that high half forward role is about right for Beau. It gets him up and around the wings so he’s involved more and can hunt/hurt the opposition and on the attacking side he has the wheels to burst free and get us inside 50.
For all the plaudits around his defensive work that video from Swoop really highlights for me how clean he can be. That play on the wing where he had 4 or 5 pressure acts was insane but what was even better was how clean he was when he got the ball the two times.

Agree. We seem to be keeping our forwards deep and leaving space at half forward for our runners to break into. He can really add to that threat. We need to keep playing him high half forward. His ability and pace to get to the wing quickly when we are sling shotting out of defence is fantastic. He then uses his pace to run forward with the ball and catch the defence short, will be invaluable. No more forward pocket for him

Dangerfield is selfless?I agree with that Sav. All except he is as close to Dangerfield as anyone. Not DeGoey. DeGoey isn’t selfless.
His speed is beyond elite. And his hands are damn good. And now also his disposal is coming on leaps and bounds.
And I agree wait until he realizes how good he is. And more so, that those around him realize it also. We have a couple of those that are now starting to spring up and take their game to another level.
Henry, McCreery and Nick. Following Moore, Quaynor, Maynard and Josh. Really really good signs.
