I live in Adelaide and its not all that bad. Decent nightlife, less traffic issues, hot summers etc.

I went to melbourne for the first time to see the crows vs hawthorn a few weeks ago. I got to melbourne around 6pm on a wednesday night, so me and the missus went for a walk and saw a movie and that stuff. No word of a lie, I had 4 homeless people harrass me for money within an hour. What the hell? One grabbed me and turned me around to ask for money...

The next day I saw some bloke drive down a no traffic road, trams only I think. Then at the crows vs hawks game who was sititng in front of me? Some git dressed in collingwood gear. He was verbally abusing all the crows fans because hawthorn were up by 5 goals first quarter. Then adelaide got in front and he was abusing the hawks fans... Seriously if melbourne was so good, why cant he find anything better to do?

Oh, and im not racist in any way, and this is not a racist comment, more like an observation of truth, but when did melbourne become a Wheres Wally race orientated place? Spot the white person these days.... English is obviously a second language in Melbourne too.

On that note, Id rather adelaide. Less traffic, less cold weather, more people speaking english, and less douches at the footy games

Sounds racist to me - and anyone who starts a sentance saying "I'm not a racist but..." is generally a racist.

ROFL... I started the sentence that way because narrow-minded people always seem to pull out the racist card as soon as anything about another racist is mentioned. There was nothing said in bad form against another race in what I said.

In adelaide does everyone have to be of british or aboriginal decent

or do you just hate everyone all the time?

There wasn't?

I'm not the narrow minded one here JunX - you have the problem with Melbourne having people from other countries there. If you didn't, you wouldn't have brought it up as a negative - but you did.

Gee, I hope you drive into the city when you go out, those damned cab drivers aren't from Australia either - or is it just Melbourne's migrants that bother you and not Adelaide's?

Anyway - hope you enjoy the footy tomorrow night.

I don't know what JunX is talking about actually - we've got plenty of migrants here in Adelaide as well. In fact, half of my high school were probably 1st generation Australians. I don't have a problem with it either.

I've lived in Adelaide all my life, and I don't know why we glorify stobie poles either. It's just a slab of concrete with steel edges used to elevate power lines and street lights! Sure, they're useful, and they were designed here, but it's not anything to rave about I don't think. And frog cakes taste terrible IMO as well. Way too sweet for my liking.

I am actually of a totally different background. But I know that in Adelaide, if I ask the guy behind the counter at a local deli where the Panadol is, he would understand me.

I agree Damon. We do have heaps here. I think its great. Probably 1/4 of the employees where I work are from different nationalities.

You said:

You act like it's a bad thing that other people speak different languages. People are allowed to speak different languages. It doesn't affect you in any way so get the **** over it!

And saying you're not racist and then using an argument acting like having other races in Melbourne is a bad thing, is being racist. There's nothing wrong with people from different countries coming to Melbourne. We're all human aren't we? So what's wrong with that?

:thumbsu: - Well said Damon!

I tell you what else is too much, those little bald dudes that get around in nappies, don't know what they're saying - how do we cope. It's all too much.

JunX PM of Spankertown.

I'm an original Adelaide boy (born and many years in Victoria also) and don't really think there is that much wrong with the city. It is what it is. Quiet, quaint, boring, not much to do but that's the beauty of the place. I love the beaches, barossa and the traffic is slow.

Being a cats fan in crow land was horrible but try being a cats fan in Philies mad south jersey :p

The time i've been the happiest ever was in my kitchen a few months back while washing dishes. had nothing to do with footy or the city i lived in.

I don't buy into the 'your city is better than my city' debate. People commit suicide in both cities. Tall buildings and restaurant flanked rivers are nice when you're happy. Even a hole like adeliade is nice when you're happy.

When you're sad, you could strap a pyramid in Egypt with explosives and blow it to kingdom come. You could fly a plane into th Acropolis in the wrong state of mind.

It's what you make it.

Adelaide is just an unbearable place with the crows going well. Very, very cocky supporters. Please Collingwood.....please knock them out of the finals, so we can get back to normal again.

Camrys losing...how sweet it is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
