Ben Cousins has been charged

I think you might be dissapointed. If I remember correctly any slip up and the AFL will line you up for sanctions. This to me is a major slip up of incredible size. The players represent the club and they all should be under no misconception that anything they do in our out of season reflects directly back on the club
I disagree.

Clubs cannot be held accountable for everything every player does during the off season.

I think WC will be able to demonstrate that they have gone out of their way to clean up their act and that Cousins' latest indiscretion is not something they can reasonably be held accountable for.

Ultimately, Cousins is a private citizen who is free to make his own decisions. How could WC have prevented him from landing in this latest situation?

Being a crows supporter I have no love lost between myself and the Eagles, but seriously bad luck on this. You guys stuck with him and supported him through all this. He needs some real help before HE dies.

Best thing for your club would be to drop him but put him through some support group. If you keep him on the AFL may take that 3rd pick.

well boys and girls thats it :(

dissapointment just doesn't even begin to sum up my feelings right now.

Agree, I am numb right now.

I thought after Mainy passing away we could not get worse, just better from the loss of Mainy. We had a bad year, injuries,(especially Kerr) Cousins, Chick and Embley and Judd leaving, then what destroyed our soul was Mainy we had hit rock bottom.

Now this. What has happened to this once proud club?

I really don't know what to think anymore, it tears my guts up inside when Cousins gets involved in this shit. I have no idea regarding my thoughts on him as I love him as a player, but disappointed in Ben Cousins the person.

The admin at West Coast need to make a stand once and for all. We may lose Ben as a player, but in my eyes the club also needs to earn it's respect back.

Premiership window is now closed, this club has been gutted.

west coast have a choice

ben cousins or premiership points/draft picks

if they drop ben .. then afl won't take action - this was stated earlier this year

I think that's an accurate statement. If Ben is sacked I doubt you will be punished, if you go soft you probably would be.

I'm very sad to tell you the truth though. I've always loved watching Ben. Sometimes it amazes me how dumb these guys can be.

It might bring the whole Judd thing into perspective though. I know you all hate him (which is understandable) but at least he always tried to be the best player/person he could be on and off the field. He played on under enormous pain and held the club together through difficult times, even taking the captaincy when he didn't want it.

Ben is much more of a traitor.

In saying that I really hope he gets the help he needs.

Excellent player to watch, sad to see what has become of his addiction. We have officially hit rock bottom, and fallen through.

that's the problem right there, the gutless and ineptness of the board to sack Cousins back in March...they take the softly softly approach for the sake of premiership points & think she'll be right. I was one of the few who said he should've been sacked back in March and copped a roasting for it & he's blown that many chances that its beyond a joke.

the alarm bells should've been sounding when him and Gardiner refused to answer police questions regarding the shooting back in in 2005.

That is bullshit naivety.
It is easy to relapse but i know several reformed addicts personally.

God i wish he was in Malibu right now. **** off out of our club Cuz.
Good post (I mean the relapse bit).

To expect someone who has a drug issue to stop just like that is crap.

He was always more likely to relapse or not. My opinion is be sad that it happened but the anger towards Cousins is not something I agree with.

He's in need of serious support right now. His career should be over for his own good so he can go focus on getting clean IMO.

Whilst your comment is in some ways true, the unfortunate fact of an AFL footballers life is that while they are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars what they do on and off the field reflects back on the club and the AFL have been quite clear on this

Take the recent example of the Melb players in Greece on an end of season trip. Private citizens however Melb where straight on to it as the direct actions of players goes straight back on the clubs and players have been well and truely briefed on this issue.

The day the player signs the contract and says show me the money is when they commit to staying out of trouble all year round, not just in season. If they are not prepared to do that then just dont sign on the line and take the money which is what it boils down to. They cant keep acting like spoiled children. Except the money and except the responsiblilty. That goes for players from all clubs not just WCE.

He probably is in the wrong(99%sure he is), but I'm going to be doing some serious praying that he isn't and this is all just harmless. :fingers crossed:

200% Spot on!

Its nieve to think you can just give up like that - heck most peole have to have a few goes at quiting smoking let alone drugs.

The problem is withi society and its because we chastsise and freeze out the users instead of going after the real criminals - the dealers and the makers who prey on the vunrable (sp?)

Its the right thing to delist him but its wrong to abandon him - unless your hoping for another tragedy
