just a quick question... will u guys boo or cheer benny when we play u guys over ther in the west round 22 on the friday night

His hammy would have gone by round 22, so I dont think he will play that one. We could all boo Mitch Morton instead I suppose, cant stand that little twerp.

I will definately be cheering him on against Judd in Round 1 though!

yeah i hope we don't boo him.... at least not before or after the game. while the game is on though i suspect it will by like any big player returning to his old club or any big name player playing at subiaco...

but before, and particularly after the game, we should give him a cheer.

things might have ended pretty badly but we did have some great times.

i'm happy Richmond picked him up. As i said, from a footballing perspective it would be worse to not see him play, then to see him in another geurnsey....

at the end of the day i think cousins is a pretty good guy. i've spoke to him a couple of times (albeit very briefly) after eagles games in sydney and he never had that arrogance about him. he just seemed like a guy who loved to party, and that's got him into trouble....

Goodbye Ben

Its official Ben Cousins is now a Richmond football player. I for one wish him the best in his new club and hope he returns to his former glory. I have to say i cant remember as long as i have been following the game that two premier midfielders from the same club have ended up in new clubs while still being able to play top football. I still can not understand why the eagles did not get permission from the afl to put ben on the long term injury list and follow this through. In hind sight Ben was probably rushed back a bit to quick and when it exploded on the streets of perth i believe the club acted hastilly in sacking him. If Ben had not returned what message would it of sent to any other young person in the afl system with a drug problem. Surely those inflicted would not of openly abmitted it and seeked help in the future.

In closing watching Juddy and Cousins in other jumpers is disheartning and i wish our club administrators were stronger and would stand up to the afl and do a Collingwood and say back off we will handle our problems.

Good luck Cuz and thanks for the memories champ.

(please excuse my use of english as it is not my natural language)

Re: Goodbye Ben

yep good to see Ben go to a club like Richmond.Probably the only club that i would of liked to see Ben go to. Good Luck next year. But Ben will always bleed blue and gold and will always be a eagles boy.:thumbsu:

The TRUTH is

the Eagles board and many members and supporters caved in to pressure.

Sold a club great for money!!!!!!!!!

Not something to take to war - chickens!!

you have all been sucked in - now the papers in Melbourne are doing the poor Cousins bit, which they never would have if Cousins tried to get to the Eagles.

you were all sucked in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Supporting Tigers round 1, hate Carlton.. dont hate Judd though. If we are able to pull off a 2001 style push into the 8 the odds are pretty good that it would be at the expense of either Carlton or Richmond or both..

Id say we are about a year behind both teams if our list developes naturally and nothing much changes with the senior players in 09. Even then its highly likely that in 2010, 2011 we would be playing Carlton and/or Richmond in finals... Its very disturbing to think of playing Cousins or Judd in a finals, even more so if they are responsible for kicking us out of one!

The best thing for West Coast was to get rid of Ben Cousins. It's a new era now with Ebert, Masten, Naitanui, Swift, S.Selwood and even Kennedy. Cousins is a ticking time bomb and 15 other clubs know it. Be glad you saw him play for your club when he was actually the champion player Richmond fans think he still is.

(And every Victorian media outlet thinks he's a druggo and can't wait for him to stuff up - I haven't read one single 'sob story' about a fallen champion who needs a helping hand in life. So i don't know where you got that from)

I will be supporting the Richmond tigers everytime they play except for when they play the eagles im so glad we will get to see cuz play again.

Neither of them,
I just want to see who wins
or if they play on eachother.
The game itself will be what i want to see, not who wins
Because seriously...I just cant pick between them

...that GO EAGLES has a very hard time understanding that people have opinions that are different to his.

hey Mr Eagle,

I am only hoping that Eagles get united and belt them.

I must admit that i am impressed with the board for putting pressure on the ALF to get rid of the sanctions.
And the recruiting - just stupendous!!!

We will bamboozle

I believ that it has to be viewed as a learning curve for all concerned.

People have to understand that Cousins sells papers and not to get so pushed around by the powerful media.

With Cousins and the new youngsters we would have been unstoppable. better than 2006. We have recruited agressive speed.

Damn it - THE ALF needs Cousins - he alone triggers interst in the off -season .; He will generate interest during the season as well.

He is worth millions to the AFL.

If he plays first game against Judd. the amount of extra viewers watching will be huge.

What the hell were the AFL thinking when trying so hard to stop him from playing.

I will be the first to admit Ben is a favorite all time Eagles player of mine, however after a couple of years of him playing it was obvious he was on the gear ( specifically speed ).

It will be interesting to see if he can play with the same intensity levels being off the gear and being at the twilight of his career. Personally I hope he proves his champion status off it and that his efforts help Richmond charge up the AFL ladder in 09...go Benno.
