Ben Lennon still keen to stay at Richmond

I reckon he was stiff and deserved to play that final. It was a poor decision to drop him and I think it affected his mindset going forward. Had he played that game he may have gone on with it

Long bow - plenty of other players have suffered the 'ignominy' of being dropped for important games. The strong and resilient rise again, the others can please themselves!

You make him Appear to be mentally fragile. If you are right then good riddance as he wouldn’t have survived any how.

Ben Lennon was a Legend in his own Lunch Time before he was even drafted - Terrible choice and should never have been picked at #12

Move on
I think everyone has but I’m not sure about you?
Are you of a similar age to Ben?

What I love is that we are now delisting good players. That might sound strange but in the past it was always very obvious who we'd delist because we could have chosen from half the last. They were the worst in a bad lot. Recently though, we are moving on players that in the past we would have kept. Speak volumes about the improving depth of our list. I'm also thrilled that we have so many early draft picks. How many premiership sides in the past have been in our position in the draft in the same year.

It's a great time to be a Tiger Supporter

Lennon was and is not a good player ..... he contributed three parts of stuff all at senior level .... hence he was delisted!
Repeat ... he was not a good player!

Well to put that in context he was not a good player in the AFL environment, Im sure at the right level he is a bloody good player.

I wonder if the miss in the reserves GF was the end of it, should have kicked it, pressure got to him unfortunately and it was a shank, not a great way to finish your career.

i think it was over by about midseason and a poster kingy46 mentioned it. You wouldn't delist a player over a shank as even the best do this.
We wouldn't have a team left if this was the case.

I have moved on and am extremely happy with the result, Its as it should have been 2 years ago.

Im 52
I thought for sure you must have played footy against him or something like that. No argument from me about him getting the chop I am just intrigued at how invested you’ve been in it that’s all.

Just alot of information i have received about this bloke in the past - Very happy he's been pissed off

Just to kind of support my views, Even with a new coaching group the new coaches still had the same opinion of the past coaches
Kind of tells you that its not just hardwick but alot more

Lennon may be the type of player who takes longer to mature into a balanced footballer. And he does have some ability to work with.
If he is not picked up by an AFL club, perhaps there would be some merit in inviting him to stay in the system in the VFL?

it's amazing how the club has cleared out all it's culture killing players and coaching staff within the last 12 months. Nothing better than a united RFC.
Good thing we did have this attitude to players a few years ago or we might be a Brownlow medalist and perhaps premiership short.
Every player is different and different things work on different players to get the best out them.
We didn't get the best out of Ben for whatever reason. Then again perhaps his best will never really be up to AFL level.
Skill alone doesn't make an AFL level player, but should make it easier to get to the level.

Some blokes fly under the radar on here, but go back and watch the last two minutes.
A series of poor decisions and clangers a lot worse than Lennon's ... only his came at the end and it's what most remember.
Markov's poor attempt at a barrel, which goes about 40 metres straight to a Port bloke.
Griffiths taking a mark and having no awareness ... with Bolton and one other player free in the pocket.
I guess plaudits to Lennon for backing himself, but was always going to be an uphill battle launching from 60m out. Seriously, how many of our blokes would you back in to kick it from 60 in that scenario? Probably a half dozen ... from any club!

speaking solely about the impact on bens career.

We should have won that game though. We stuffed up at selection

History before and after suggests selection wouldn't have made any difference. I remember 2001 where we won our final and all it did was make us believe we were better than we were.

Sliding doors moment. Just as the 4 close losses this year contributed to the flag, so did the 3 elimination final losses. Fact is, where we finished up in 2013, 2014 and 2015 was exactly where we deserved to be.

Griff not hitting Bolton on his own in the pocket was the moment for mine, hit that kick and it’s the easiest goal you’ll ever get to take the lead in the last minutes of any GF. Especially as a relatively senior player in that side.

14 months ago i was here saying that the assistant coaches all should be sacked as they had been here way too long and if hardwick was to have any chance he needed to get rid of his 'friends' specially
Lade
mark Williams (not Chocco)
Mellor

I also wanted
Maric retired
Morris retired
Hunt sacked
Hampson sacked
Broad delisted
Elton delisted

I was wrong about Broad

There are some around town that want him hung, drawn and quartered. Then the pieces of his carcass be burnt at the stake....

Off topic a touch, but what's wrong with a player asking to be traded?
There is no problem and they are fully entitled to that - BUT

To wait until the last week of trade week when your club has had a contract infront of you for months, After meeting with the team that's trying to screw your club by making/convincing you to walk to psd with the temptation of way above average dollars for a 2nd year player thats done SFA

He and Sos played us at a time where we had no choice but to trade him for a 3rd rounder just 2 years after picking him at #12
Let him walk into the PSD if we didnt match Carltons $$$
Or
Pay through the nose for a player with no runs on the board
