VFL Game Day Bendigo 2010

Re: Visy Park

Yep will be at Visy Park too to watch Bendigo get their first win for 2010 (in the real season).

They've had an outstanding preseason (oooops yep we've heard this before too) so can't be any worse than 2009 when they went the season winless.

Should be a fair crowd too I'd guess.

With no reserves side... where are the Ess players tht miss out going to play?? Even with only 2 or 3 Bendigo listed players in the team, if Ess stay pretty much injury free then some players (rookies most likely) will miss out.

We have been able to recruit a lot of decent VFL players this year... it would be a shame if the majority of them missed out on senior footy during the year.

Re: Visy Park

Id love to see this game but i have to work.....

I reckon Bendigo are going to be a real force this season; may even go better than the senior bomber team :p

Bendigo to have strongest side since we aligned with them
this week. Prismall, howlett, davey, myers, hurley, hardingham, skippy, jason cloke, belly, laycock, atko, Jetta will be close too. Plus stilly, margiliani etc, they will be massive improvers this season......

If we dont smash the Bullants with this team something is terribly wrong.

Thats even if Davey and Prismall play... they arent emergencies for the seniors but sometimes the dropped senior players dont line up for Bendigo.

So uh, Colyer named for both teams?

No idea why Page has an asterisk next to his name.

Ok people, I have been busy the last 24 hours and have been unable to write up a report on this weeks match. I am going to try and get to as many Bendigo matches as I can, starting with tomorrows game against the Carlton aligned Northern Bullants at Visy Park kicking off at 2:00PM.

F: Alwyn Davey - Jay Neagle - Ben Howlett

B: Marcus Davies - Simon White - Joe Dare

HF: Taite Silverlock - Jake Carlisle - Marcus Marigliani

HB: Joe Anderson - Josh Spiteri - Chris Johnson

The Bendigo forward line is possible the strongest part on the ground for either side with big Jay Neagle wanting to prove a point after being disapointedly dropped from the senior team last week. Opposed to the giant is young carlton rookie Simon White, giving away 5 - 6kg, 4cm in height and 30 odd AFL games of experience, he (white) will have his hands full. Starting out at CHF is young Jake Carlisle who has impressed many at the club since being drafted in the '09 National draft. Opposed to him will be young Josh Spiteri who will have his hands full. Out on the flanks will be a good contest, with Essendon listed rookies Taite Silverlock and Marcus Marigliani showing some promise in the early parts of the pre season without having a look into the senior side. Opposing them are experienced AFL players Joe Anderson and Chris Johnson.

R: Christian Bock - Kyle Harindham - David Myers

R: Sam Jacobs - Steven Browne - ?? McCorkel

C: Travis Colyer - Brent Prismal - Stuart Crameri

C: Iacoubucci - Richard Hadley - Morgan

In the middle of the ground will be a very even contest with the experienced Richard Hadley and Steven Browne holding the slight edge over the young Brent Prismall and recent draftee Kyle Hardingham. The ruck contest will be one to watch, young 208cm bean pole Christian Bock has been handed the number one ruck position and he is going to have a good game opposed to another young ruckmen in Sam Jacobs. Should be a very good and even contest, am hoping for big things from the mature bodied Stuart Crameri, David Myers and recent draftee Kyle Hardingham.

B: Jarrod Atkinson - James Flaherety - Jason Cloke

F: David Ellard - Levi Casboult - Clint Garlett

HB: Darcy Daniher - Tyson Slattery - Anthony Long

HF: Ashley Arrowsmith - Simon Wiggins - Rohan Kerr

With the experienced Simon Wiggins being asked to shoulder alot of the scoring along with the assistance of overage draftee Levi Casboult from Dandenong Stingrays, the Northern Bullants are going to need to find more avenues to goal than these two, the little guys are going to need to play a big role in the game with all the Bullants guys having tasted some form of AFL action. Ashley Arrowsmith (West Coast Eagles) is one player who will be looking forward to showcasing his talent after being delisted by the Eagles after his injury riddled time with them. The tall Bendigo defence led by returning skipper James Flaherety will need to work together and keep the smalls in check if they are to be any chance at winning this game.

I/C: Trent Shinners - Michael Hurley - Hayden Skipworth - Jason Laycock -

Shane Page* - Paul Scanlon - Michael Quinn - John Williams

I/C: ?? Gale - Jarryd Cachia - ?? Thomas - Greg Bentley - Zac Tuohy -

Neaves - Woods* - Mitchem

The best of the rest sees Bendigo's bench feature several stars from there list whilst the Bullants sees young up and comers Zac Tuhoy and Jarryd Cachia named on the bench.

It should be a good game with plenty of good match ups across the ground. Featuring some of these match ups:

Levi Casboult V James Flaherety

Levi was the leading contested marker in the TAC under 18 competition and won the Dandenong Stingrays Best & Fairest in there grand final runners up team, whilst James Flaherety, returning captain of the Bendigo outfit is an outstanding defender having come second in the past two years in the Bendigo B&F. He took a greater step forward last year being named at Full Back in the VFL team of the year. If James is at the top of his game, this match up will go along way to deciding who will win this contest.

Richard Hadley V Brent Prismal

Hadley will be looking to force his way back into the strong Blues midfield. With Hadley on at the top of his game, Brent Prismall will need to live up to the hype of him being billed as a potential AFL A - grade midfielder. With the ruckmen evenly poised, the player with first hands on the ball will give their team the driving edge to victory.

Joe Anderson V Marcus Marigliani

'Riggers' has been picked up on the back of several fine seasons for Frankston Dolphins. He was once labelled "the bes player in the VFL" by keen VFL observer and TV personality, Phil Cleary. Marigliani will be looking to impress in his new surroundings and hopefully gain another year on his one year contarct he currently holds.

With these three key match ups likely to decide the outcome of this match. It should be a good match to kick off the 'New Bombers Era".

I will be reporting live from the game tomorrow. I will be able to answer any questions people may have on the game, whilst giving some brief coments on the game itself. Am possibly able to take some photos also, will let you know about that one tomorrow.

Quick tip: Bendigo by 4 goals

Goals: Neagle 4
