Inside word? Or just your opinion?

Surely there would be limitations on who could and couldn’t be involved?
Won’t ever happen again.

Dhurringile had an arrangement but that ended when people turned up to watch their local team and saw the opposition ruckman was a man who was serving a sentence for the death of one of their family members

I have asked the question a lot and no one has ever actually answered it. Lots of people want something done…but what is it?

Is this issue affecting just Bendigo? No it’s not. Therefore I think what I think and am not entirely sure what one group of commissioners or councillors or whatever you call them can actually do.

In my experience clubs need to make the big decisions and enact big change themselves because there is no silver bullet coming from league or AFL admin
You’ve must have scrolled quickly past the multiple responses you had. Or maybe they weren’t just “merge merge merge” so they didn’t align to your thinking.

Totally agree. In the Education system there are constant working with children checks. No way in the current climate you can have prisoners playing footy against minors.

Putting all our differences aside
Let’s focus on footy for the rest of the week. Let’s give the league, clubs poaching under 14s, Greg Maddigen, and Flat moving or not moving a rest for a couple days

Is Sandhurst flag favourite as we speak?

Who’s leading the Michelson?

whose been the biggest disappointment so far this year?

What do you think then?

Don’t worry about what I think…what would you do?
I don’t think anything can be done now, it’d be too little too late.

What could have been done in years gone by - could have started by listening to the country clubs, when they got together as a group years ago and told the league that they could see the writing on the wall, and here we are.
I’d also have used the points system to make it near impossible for kids to change clubs in the same comp, unless it was due to the family relocating. Made them 8 point players for 5 year minimum if they had any current or previous involvement with the Pioneers. Extra points if they moved from a bottom 5 club to a top 5 club.
I’d have made year on year adjustments to the points allocation based on previous years results. Great example from a few years ago. The premiers remained on the same points (city based club), yet a country club that missed finals dropped 3 points the next year.
I’d have spread finals venues around to all clubs to give them a revenue raising opportunity, as happens in a lot of leagues. Keep the GF at the QEO.

How’s that all sound to you?

Maine have been competitive in games, not just long enough. I think theyll beat a finals side by the end of the year. South no horbury and a few others left to minor leagues, I don't think they were thinking finals at all. Gone are the days of having great juniors come through, child's, frew, connaughton, etc you could build a side from.

Maybe Eaglehawk, they haven't got close to the big 3 yet, they'll limp into finals but can't see them doing anything

Depth looks to be the concern at Eaglehawk. Been ravaged by injury the last few weeks, and haven’t had capable enough replacements. Would have pencilled in last weeks game against Square as a W at the start of the season, might come back to haunt.

Could you imagine trying to be a co-tenant with sandhurst ! There’s a reason why south couldn’t wait to get out. You’d be training on Mondays but only if the 5 sandhurst feeder schools didn’t already have it booked !

There are 2 teams based in suburbs of Bendigo. White Hills and North Bendigo. Makes sense? Both have been strong in the HDFNL of recent years. Keeps things “Bendigo” based. Just a thought.

Definitely not 10 goals better than Gisborne. Lucky to beat them in round two when Gisborne were underdone.

Based on my observations of both teams they are. Have a ton more class, deeper midfield, and more quality at both ends.

I can’t see the grand final being within 10 goals if both teams are at full strength.

Any thoughts on reducing number of players on the bench in country footy to a max of 3. Might help spread the pool of players.

That’s a great example of the sort of thing we talk about and get called whingers.

When the change was proposed from 3 to 4 the country clubs opposed it. Said it would increase costs and make the gap bigger between teams as the strong teams have more depth. There was really no case for it apart from the AFL is doing it and we want to copy them by running four guys on and off every 30 seconds.

Guess which teams were in favour and it was no surprise where the carefully considered decision landed. A classic example of why things are where they are.

With Braidon Blake injured the interleague selectors should take a chance on Kai Daniels as the No 1 ruckman for the BFNL rep team. He is a player of the future and getter better with every game.
Hosking from Strath? Could be considered. Hartley playing ruck is another option there is a lot of forwards to choose from. Ruck stocks are definitely quite thin in BFNL this year

Forest, if Castlemaine were to leave the BFL, where would you prefer them to move to and why?

This isn't a dig on previous posts, interested on your thoughts.

I’d never really warmed to it but I read a post in the Riddell forum pointing out the benefits of a move that really struck a cord with me.

I think a move there would be great, ticks a lot of boxes and to renew the rivalry with Kyneton would be great for both clubs.

I’ve come full circle from not entertaining the idea to actively hoping we make the move asap.

Do you think you would be given the green light by AFL if your move was to be to the detriment of the BFL, this applies for any side wishing to leave. If Maiden Gully had trouble getting in. I see getting out harder.
