There’s footballs getting around with more brains than are evident at HQ.

Had a chat with someone this morning who felt the hub cops a hard deal from most supporters and can’t win no matter what they do.

I’m always open to challenge an opinion so we objectively tried to list all the positive influences they have had on footy in the region.

After a long discussion we came up with videoing the games and the stats packages but then we disqualified that because it’s just the clubs paying for a service, and the introduction of a women’s league but again we had to balance that with how much of a mess they have made of it.

I’d love to hear what other posters can come up with.
Purple vests for Covid officers…

So we can get a coach for a meaningless interleague game before Christmas but not a fixture?

Well done once again you turnips.
It would be interesting to know/understand what the delay with fixturing is. I assume that clubs get a seat at the table with fixturing ( much like GVL clubs do) and that there are some clubs digging in over who they will play 3 times in the 16 round season. Doesn't Sandhurst ( 1st in 2024) just play Gisborne ( 2nd in 2024) and Strath ( 3rd in 2024) 3 times and Golden Square (4th in 2024) do the same. It's not an equalisation policy as such because it assumes that these teams will all be top 4 again but it seems fair and equitable that based on previous seasons results that your draw is more difficult as a starting point.

Wouldn't it be ironic to have points and a salary cap that supposebly promotes equalization and then have a draw that does the complete opposite?

It will be very interesting to see who gets who as their extra matches. Logic says one from the top half of the 2024 ladder and one from the bottom half or maybe even both the match-ups come from top four/bottom four groupings.

Imagine the conspiracy theorists in here if Sandhurst gets something like Flat and South.

Surely if the logical approach isn’t followed then they are no longer conspiracy theorists?

So glad Doley put up one of his world class articles today.

I was starting to forget the name of the coach of each team.
have said it before but as long as your fee paying wage paying clubs continue to cop it nothing will change.
stand up show some balls do something meaningful because big footy and the league and media pages that don’t allow for comments anyway is working perfectly for the league as it seems nothing will change

Amen brother, I’ve been saying the same thing for years.

We are all complicit in killing the game through inaction. All it would take is a meeting of all clubs to resolve to form an independent competition and the hub would be done.

Without the affiliation and finals incomes they would be dead in the water.

The problem is it’s a huge and daunting amount of work for volunteers at clubs so in reality what happens is people fill roles until they can’t stand the garbage any longer, then walk away and someone else takes their place and it takes time for them to learn how crap the hub is. Then repeat.

We desperately need a revolution but the people are too beaten down and exhausted to fight.

I have been told by a very good source, that south got gisborne away and sandhurst as there double ups , they not very happy and trying to get it changed

Might be Strath not Sandhurst. But still harsh for a team that finished a long way off the pace. Surely this isn’t payback for the points debacle?

season 2025 will not be the ideal season surely everyone knows that. There is no way to make everyone/every club happy its impossible. Put out the fixture deal with what you are given and play football. Then looking into 2026 with the ideal rose coloured glasses from a fixture point of view everyone plays everyone twice and happy days. If there is a bye so be it.
