This is becoming more common—great players heading to district football. I wonder why?
To be fair to Shannon he lives in Marong and has given his all to Strathfieldsaye and Bendigo Footy.

Good to hear they’ve changed their tune this time around after what they told him a year or 2 ago.Apparently he is going to continue coaching the under 16’s at strath. Coached my eldest this year and was brilliant. Harry will always remember his season being coached by Shannon
what did they tell him?Good to hear they’ve changed their tune this time around after what they told him a year or 2 ago.
That if he left (when he wanted to go to Eaglehawk a year or 2 ago), he would be banned from coaching his son at Strathwhat did they tell him?
Marong not being an opposition club is a significant difference. That if he left (when he wanted to go to Eaglehawk a year or 2 ago), he would be banned from coaching his son at Strath

Strath under 14’s a direct competitor with Eaglehawk seniors? Each to their own opinion, but given the integrity of the man I wouldn’t have seen it as an issue.Well it would makes sense if a guy plays for a direct competitor

Junior programs are now very closely linked to senior programs mad jack, most notably under 16s. Undoubtably a small conflict of interest there irrespective of the integrity of the man.Strath under 14’s a direct competitor with Eaglehawk seniors? What a load of crap. There's some serious mayo put on this story. If that was the case wouldn't shannon pull he's son and take him and he's mates with him.Junior programs are now very closely linked to senior programs mad jack, most notably under 16s. I dare say if he had of wound up playing for Eaglehawk then it was due to an issue at Strath in the seniors.

The bigger issue is the monopolising of clubs with the best junior players. The bigger question should be why are kids living in marong/maiden gully area to strath to play juniors.
What story? I have absolutely no knowledge of the situation or the story just commenting on what was said aboveWhat a load of crap. There's some serious mayo put on this story. If that was the case wouldn't shannon pull he's son and take him and he's mates with him.

Given his playing pedigree, a great player and career, and his very good coaching acumen- matched by his desire to coach Senior Football-Geary will be inaugural coach of Marong when they join Bendigo Football league in 2026.

Im definetly not going to compare them as they are both unbelievable players with successful careers across many years. Shannon just strikes me as a very astute football brain and the timing seems perfect for that type of appointment heading to a new league. As opposed to kain ?
In regards to Marong, are they the only club around the district who still play with a sandpit in the middle, due to the concrete cricket pitch used for summer.
There used to be rabbit burrows on the ground when we played cricket there late 70sIn regards to Marong, are they the only club around the district who still play with a sandpit in the middle, due to the concrete cricket pitch used for summer.
