6 career games at Strath - 4 in 18’s, 2 in the reserves. How much credit should they be given?

Obviously helped if he had dramas elsewhere??!!

It’s also interesting that he gets back to strath a lot when able to and even ran a full club training last year.

He trained with strath after being a sub following a Collingwood final in the premiership year.

Maybe the environment has something to do with things??

They played one in yea, tigers v cats not that long ago, it was fantastic

Whilst the QEO is a great facility, there is no reason why a game could not be played at Maryborough. I have no doubt the playing surface would be second to none if the ground was awarded an AFL fixture. Whilst I appreciate the views about protecting players, the AFL and their clubs need to come off their ‘high horse’ and play games in country towns to show support for country football. Ovals such as Alexandra Oval at Ararat and Melville Oval in Hamilton could also host these fixtures which would greatly benefit local clubs and communities.

Unfortunately the AFL doesn’t know anywhere in country Victoria outside a 100km radius from Melbourne as seen by the community camps venues and the absence of any country based practice games. There is zero benefit to country football and their communities of having practice games in AFL venues apart from clubs not having to travel. The lack of focus on rural communities and the benefits of sport by the AFL is unacceptable.

Whilst I’m not familiar with Ararat, I have experience at both Maryborough & Hamilton. The surface at Princes Park was great when I’ve been there, the change rooms are somewhat rustic & the umpire room is terrible, although I am reliably informed that the water pressure in the single shower is wonderful.
Melville Oval has some of the same challenges in terms of space between the boundary & fence. Also, the new change rooms wouldn’t be ready this pre-season, the old ones were less spacious than Maryborough but less rustic.
Earlier it was mentioned that Malseed Park in Mount Gambier was previously used. They were the best rooms in the Mount 30 years ago, with the added benefit of direct access to the oval, so a saving on security.
